Celebrating One of Strasburg’s Finest!
I am thrilled to share that our very own Rich Follett, Poet Laureate for the Town of Strasburg, has been named the 2025–26 NFHS Outstanding Theatre Educator State Recipient by the Virginia High School League.
Strasburg is proud to call him one of our own, and we celebrate this well‑deserved honor alongside him. Congratulations, Rich! Your impact reaches far beyond the classroom, and our community is better because of you.

Congratulations to teacher Richard Follett of Skyline High School for this tremendous achievement.

I’m excited to share that Mellanie Shipe has been named the new Town Manager for the Town of Strasburg. 💜

A quick clarification that’s often misunderstood: while many assume the mayor runs the town, the Town Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of all town staff. The Mayor and Town Council serve in part-time, elected roles and are responsible for setting policy, adopting the budget, and holding the Town Manager accountable for carrying out that work.

With that in mind, we are incredibly proud to welcome Mellanie Shipe as our new Town Manager. We have full faith in her leadership and proven management skills, and we look forward to continuing our work with her as she helps move Strasburg forward.

Please join me in welcoming Mel to this important role. We’re excited for what’s ahead.

On a snowy night after a late dispatch shift, Mellanie Shipe drove back into Strasburg and saw it the way people do when they’ve spent a lifetime returning to it.

This morning, Vice Mayor, Town Council members, and I had the honor of celebrating our Strasburg High School Rams Football Team, the 2025 VHSL Class 2 State Champions! 🏈 💜🐑

We provided breakfast and presented the team with a proclamation recognizing their championship season, which will be officially presented and entered into the minutes at our January 13 council meeting.

So proud of our Rams—their leadership, heart, and incredible coaching staff!

The National Wild Turkey Federation – Faithful Call Chapter has generously donated frozen turkeys to help support members of our Strasburg community this holiday season.

We will be delivering turkeys around Strasburg on Thursday.

If you or someone you know would benefit from a free turkey, please send me a private message with a name and address for delivery. All messages will remain confidential.

While we will do our very best to meet every request, the number of turkeys is limited, and availability will be based on donations received.

Thank you to the Faithful Call Chapter for their generosity!

HISTORY MADE! 🏆🐏 💜
The Strasburg Rams football team has won the state championship for the very first time in school history!

This is a moment so many in our community have waited and hoped for over the years, and we couldn’t be more proud. A huge thank you to Coach Lamb and the entire coaching and leadership team for inspiring these young men and guiding them to this incredible milestone.

Celebration details: The team plans to arrive in Shenandoah County around 5 PM and will begin traveling down Route 11 in New Market, with an estimated arrival in Strasburg at 5:30 PM. We encourage everyone to line the streets and give our Rams the hero’s welcome they deserve!
