Open May 29 - Sept. 5, 2021, Thursday - Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Approximately 2 miles to 8th Avenue SE. Farm driveway is on the east side of the road. Self-guided visits
Primitive facilities

Adults: $5
Children (ages 6-15): $3
Under 6: Free
School Bus Tours: $1 per student
Free admission for school chaperones
Tour Bus: $4 per person for groups of 20 or more

After a week of working in high temps and humidity, the archeologists and students working hard in two different areas on the homestead have completed their time with us for this season.

One spot is near the house. In that area the hopes was to find evidence of the fence that once was around the house.

The other area was south of the barn. In that area the hopes was to find evidence of a building that was once there. On their last day at the homestead, the students who were working on this spot all week finally got past the level of gravel to reveal the next layer of the ground.

Welk Homestead State Historic Site is pleased to announce its Oktoberfest event on September 26, 2026, from 4pm to 9pm.

Today we had a group of people to start archaeological survey of our grounds to help understand the history of our site. They will be back next week to set up more survey equipment and also started Dig site. More information is coming.
