We’re working on growing our Linden Tree village and becoming even more present in the community we love serving.

If you’ve received care from Linden Tree, one of the simplest ways you can help us do that is by sharing your experience through a Google review.

Your words help other families in our community find us, learn more about their birth options, and feel a little more confident taking that first step toward midwifery care.

We’re so grateful for every family who has trusted us to be part of their story and we’d love your help as we continue growing our village and reaching more families in our community.

If you have a few minutes to leave us a review, it would mean so much to our team. 🌿

“But what if there’s an emergency?” — A common myth about midwives

One of the biggest myths we hear about midwifery is that midwives can only handle “normal” births—and if something goes wrong, we don’t know what to do.

The truth is quite different. 🌿

Midwives are trained to recognize emergencies, respond quickly, stabilize both parent and baby, and know when additional help or hospital-level care is needed. Emergency management—including resuscitation, stabilization, consultation, and referral—is part of professional midwifery competencies.

So what does that actually look like?

🩸 Postpartum hemorrhage

Heavy bleeding after birth is one of the emergencies midwives are specifically prepared to recognize and treat.

Depending on the situation, emergency management can include uterine massage, assessing the cause of bleeding, establishing IV access and fluids, and administering medications that help the uterus contract.

And we don't simply “wait and see.” We continuously assess blood loss and the birthing person's condition while initiating emergency response and arranging transfer when necessary.

👶 A baby who needs help breathing

Sometimes a baby is born who doesn't immediately breathe or transition as expected.

Midwives trained in neonatal resuscitation

Midwives are also trained to recognize and respond to situations such as:

• shoulder dystocia
• cord prolapse
• maternal hypertension
• retained placenta
• repairing tears
• abnormal fetal heart rate patterns

Being prepared for an emergency doesn't mean we expect something bad to happen.

A good midwife says, “If something unexpected happens, I know how to recognize it, I know what I can do, I know what resources I have, and I know when to call for more help.”

At Linden Tree Midwifery, we believe in honoring the physiology of birth while being thoroughly prepared for the moments when birth stops being physiologic.

Normal birth deserves respect.
Emergency situations deserve preparation.
And families deserve a provider who understands both. 🤍🌿

Look at this little cutie and awesome momma!!

After a labor that went from early to active super fast, this momma walked into the birth center and baby was here within 10 minutes.

When our bodies say it is go time, there is no stopping it. Congratulations to this force of nature momma!

Linden Tree is planning a series of information sessions for the public.

On November 11, we want expectant families to meet some local doulas and childbirth educators. It will be a meet and greet as well as an informative discussion.

If you are a local doula or childbirth educator who is interested in participating, please message us on Facebook or Instagram. We can't wait to meet you all and share the wonderful birth resources in our community.

This week is World Breastfeeding Week.

At Linden Tree Midwifery, we love breastfeeding and supporting families in their breastfeeding journeys.

In honor of normalizing breastfeeding, if you feel comfortable, post your favorite breastfeeding pic.

This picture of Jess feeding Wren is so special because it is actually the last time she ever breastfed. Jess signed up for a breastfeeding photo project for LA Leche League. Before the photo shoot, her daughter Wren had naturally started to wean.

She went to the photo shoot anyway and offered the breast. Wren accepted and nursed one last time and it was caught on camera. After this photo, she never asked to nurse again.

Please share your photos and your stories. Every nursing story helps normalize the journey.
