Stratford EMS had a great time today providing a touch-a-truck experience today at the Wheels & Shields Car and Bike show hosted by the Bridgeport Police Hispanic Society. 🚑💗 Now THAT’S a Sunday afternoon call! 👶

A huge shoutout to Paramedic Supervisor Rodican, Paramedic Biasotti, and EMT Clarke assisted by Stratford first Responders, who helped welcome a baby girl into the world this afternoon—right in a shopping center parking lot. After delivery, Mom and baby were safely received at a local hospital. 💕🚑

Today was a great day of education and an even better day for teamwork! Stratford EMS joined by CT EMS for Children, Stratford Fire Department, Bridgeport Hospital’s ED, EMS, Pediatrics, and Trauma teams collaborated for a hands-on, start-to-finish pediatric training experience. After an extensive skills review, two simulated pediatric patients were cared for from initial patient contact all the way through transfer of care at the Hospital. What kind of patients? One patient was rescued after having wandered into a pond and a second patient was experiencing a heat-related emergency after getting separated from their family on a trail. Today’s training practiced real-world on scene patient care, transport, and then hospital teams continued the scenario through the Emergency Department. Thank you to the Roosevelt Forest Commission for your support today permitting the use of the forest areas.

🚑 Stratford EMS in the Community!

Stratford EMS volunteers Angelo Cimino and Eric Bormann had a great time representing SEMS at today’s Paradise Green Kids Day Farmers Market!

Our Touch-a-Truck gave kids and families an up-close look inside an ambulance, the equipment our crews use, and the important role EMS plays in our community. Experiences like these are a great way for children to meet first responders in a fun, positive environment—and maybe even inspire a future EMT or paramedic!

A big thank you to Angelo and Eric for volunteering their time and helping Stratford EMS stay connected with the community we proudly serve.

🧠🚑 Excellence in Stroke Care

Today, Stratford EMS is proud to recognize Ellen Ostrander, Ty Roberts, Meghan Velky, and Heather Walsh, who received Excellence in Stroke Care Awards from Yale New Haven Health – Bridgeport Hospital for their care of patients experiencing stroke emergencies.

These awards recognize excellence in prehospital stroke recognition, early stroke alert activation, clinical care, and the critical role EMS plays in improving outcomes when every minute matters.

Each recipient also received a special brain pin as part of the recognition.

Congratulations to Ellen, Ty, Meghan, and Heather! Recognition like this from our hospital partners reflects the clinical excellence, attention to detail, and commitment to patient care that we strive for every day at Stratford EMS.

A special thank you to Bridgeport Hospital for recognizing the important work of our EMS professionals and for your continued partnership in providing exceptional stroke care to our community.

On 8/14 Paramedic Smolinsky and EMT Roberts along with Stratford first responders were dispatched to a report of a female experiencing difficulty breathing. Upon arriving the patient had become unresponsive and was determined to be in cardiac arrest. Immediate initiation of basic and advanced cardiac life support with focus on the suspected cause of the arrest event resulted in a return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC). Post resuscitation care and extrication from the home with early alert of the emergency room gave this patient the greatest chance of recovery. Excellent work team! Our thoughts and prayers are with the patient and their loved ones at this very difficult time.
