🚨 Warning: Phone Scams 🚨

The Stratham Police Department would like to inform residents of the increasing number of telephone and impersonation scams affecting our communities. Criminals are posing as legitimate organizations such as the IRS, law enforcement agencies, Apple Support, and other trusted businesses to pressure victims into making immediate payments using gift cards, cryptocurrency, or other untraceable methods.

Once gift card codes or payment information are shared, the funds are transferred instantly and are extremely difficult to recover. These scams often target elderly residents and vulnerable individuals.

Here are a few important tips to help protect yourself and your loved ones:

🔹 Legitimate law enforcement agencies and reputable organizations will NEVER call and demand money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, personal information, or any form of immediate payment over the phone.

🔹 Always verify the identity of the caller. If you are unsure, hang up and contact your local police department or the organization directly using an official phone number.

🔹 Talk to elderly parents, grandparents, family members, and friends about these scams so they can recognize the warning signs and avoid becoming victims.

🔹 Be mindful of the information you share on social media. Avoid posting sensitive personal information or details that scammers could use to target you.

Protect yourself and your family — don’t become the victim of a scam.

If you have any questions, concerns, or believe you may have been targeted by a scam, please contact the Stratham Police Department.

The Stratham Police is proud to raise awareness about the New Hampshire Blue Envelope Program, a voluntary initiative that helps improve communication and safety during traffic stops for drivers who may have autism spectrum disorder or trauma and stress-related disorders. Through this program, eligible drivers can obtain a distinctive blue envelope from the NH DMV (at no cost) where they may keep their:
✔𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲
✔𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
✔𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱
The envelope also allows them to optionally include helpful information such as:
🔵𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 (𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗹, 𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗰𝗵, 𝗼𝗿 𝗻𝗼𝗻-𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗹)
🔵𝗦𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀, 𝘀𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘀, 𝗼𝗿 𝗻𝗼𝗶𝘀𝗲)
🔵 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
🔵𝗔 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗱
How it works:
When a driver participating in the program is pulled over, they may present the blue envelope or have it visibly attached to their visor. It serves as a simple, visual cue to officers that the driver may communicate or respond differently and may benefit from clearer instructions or extra patience. Important points:
★ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘀
★ 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝟭𝟬𝟬% 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆
★ 𝗜𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗹𝗮𝘄𝘀, 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀, 𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆
★ 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗿 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗮 𝗯𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲
The program is designed to promote safer, more effective, and respectful interactions between law enforcement and drivers. The NH DMV is also working with the Police Standards and Training Council to incorporate awareness of the program into officer training. If you or a loved one might benefit from the Blue Envelope Program, contact the NH Division of Motor Vehicles or email [email protected] for more information.

On the evening of Monday May 3rd, the Town of Stratham Select Board and Stratham Police Department welcomed our newest patrol officer, fresh out of the 202nd Full Time Police Officer academy at Police Standards and Training in Concord, NH. Officer Ballard was sworn in by Select Board Member, Allison Knab.
👮Officer Ballard has demonstrated dedication and perseverance throughout his journey, completing 18 weeks at the academy. He now returns to Stratham to begin his Field Training phase, the final step before transitioning to solo patrol.
Officer Ballard moved to the Granite State from CA with family last year. In the warmer climate, he was a high school volleyball coach for 17 years. 🏐
Outside of work, Officer Ballard enjoys hiking with his family and a fun round of golf. He especially enjoys looking for small local coffee shops. What cop doesn’t love coffee! ☕ He also enjoys visiting museums, amusement parks, and spending time with his wife, 2 children and 2 dogs.
This is a significant milestone, and one that reflects his commitment to serving our community with professionalism and integrity.
🎉Please join us in congratulating Officer Ballard. Your family, your department, and your community stand behind you and wish you a long, safe, and successful career. 🎉
