On September 25, 1956, the Strausstown-Upper Tulpehocken School District joined the Hamburg School District. Sadly, after 76 years of being a fixture in the Borough of Strausstown with thousands of students passing through its doors, the Strausstown Elementary School closed in May 2008. After many years of being vacant, and the real threat of it being torn down resulting in a loss of the communit
y's history, the elementary school and its property is getting a second life!!! The school and property was purchased by the Strausstown Volunteer Fire Company in April of 2011 and shortly thereafter incorporated into the Strausstown Volunteer Fire Company Community Campus. The "Community Campus" received its 401c3 designation as a non-profit entity by the IRS in October 2011. The Community Campus's five founding Board Members are Charles Snyder, Gary Parker, Barry Bentz, Justin Bentz and Brian Kegerreis. The Community Campus's first set of officers were:

Anthony Moyer : Treasurer
The officers and board members of the Community Campus are working hard to improve the quality of life to the the great people of Strausstown Borough, Upper Tulpehocken Township and surrounding communities.
