Get your blond wigs and Dolly dresses ready, Streator's hosting its own Dolly Day - on Friday, Sept. 25, 9/25 (Nine To Five), of course!

The Dolly Parton tribute will be part of the Fall in Love with Streator event. Everyone is encouraged to dress like Dolly, or participate in the Dolly theme, and the Chamber will be having a contest 5 to 7 p.m. that night for the best costume, with a gift basket prize to the winner. There also will be a group photo that follows! Gaetano’s Vault will join in the fun with "Jolene" and "9 to Lime" cocktails.

Wow! The 122 Club is bringing nationally-recognized comedian Tom Arnold to Streator. The show is scheduled 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at The 122 Club. Earlier this year, The 122 Club hosted former SNL talent Chris Kattan for a comedy show.

Streator, this one is official!

Tom Arnold is bringing his My Crazy X-Wife Tour to The 122 Club on Friday, December 11.

Yes, that Tom Arnold. Roseanne. True Lies. Austin Powers. HBO specials. SNL. Four ex-wives. A whole career full of stories that come to life on stage.

There's still time to sign up for the Labor Day parade. The deadline has been extended to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4.

The parade is scheduled for noon Sunday, Sept. 6 - with lineup at the railroad station on Illinois Street. The parade will go west on Main Street to Park Street, then turn north to the City Park.

🚨 ATTENTION Streator & Surrounding Communities! 🚨
A severe HEAT ADVISORY is in effect right now for our area. Today’s high is forecast to be near 91°F, but with a dangerously high heat index, the real feel is significantly hotter.
This level of extreme heat is life-threatening for our pets.
We have created this 'Keep Dogs Cool' checklist (see image below) to provide immediate, actionable safety tips. Share it with your friends and family!

DON'T WALK ON HOT PAVEMENT: If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws. This can cause severe burns. Keep all walks to the early morning or late evening.
NEVER LEAVE A PET IN A CAR: On a day like today, interior temperatures can climb over 110°F within minutes. Not even with the windows cracked.
BRING THEM INDOORS: Make sure pets are in air conditioning or have constant access to a very cool, well-ventilated space. CHECK WATER FREQUENTLY: Dehydration is a major risk. Provide fresh, cool water and check it constantly.
WATCH FOR OVERHEATING SIGNS: Excessive panting, difficulty breathing, and drooling are warning signs.

Welcome Empowering Minds to Streator! The counseling service opened in June at 120 S. Sterling St. (the former Illinois American Water office), offering therapy to children, teens, adults, couples and families.

Adding to their office in Ottawa, along with secure telehealth, Empowering Minds helps people overwhelmed by anxiety, struggling with depression, healing from trauma, navigating relationship challenges or simply feeling stuck. Their mission is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care while helping people build the tools and confidence to move forward.
