Streator Police Department This is the official page of the Streator Police Department. This is the "new" Official Streator Police Department page.

This page will be used as another way for our Department to interact with the public. However, this page is not manned 24/7, and would like to remind anyone needing police assistance to contact dispatch at 815-844-0911, or 911 (in emergency situations) in order to have officers dispatched to assist. Monday-Friday, our Records Department can be reached to 815-672-3111. Their hours are from 7am-6pm

Monday through Thursday, and 7am-1pm on Friday. Our Department also uses this page as a way for the public to anonymously provide information, via "messages". We regularly check these messages and appreciate any information that the public may be able to provide us .

Good morning. Due to the cold snap in our area (expected to last at least until next Tuesday), the Streator PD has decided to keep our lobby open from now through Tuesday, January 27 as a warming center for anyone who may need it. We only request that those who may make use of it follow our rules:

1) No smoking.
2) No consuming of any alcoholic beverages.
3) No feet on the table.
4) Keep all conversation respectful and civil.
5) Please throw away all refuse (there is a waste basket in the lobby).

We wish all residents a safe (and warm) weekend.

Streator Police Department’s K9 Bo has received donation of body armor

Streator Police Department, IL, K9 Bo has received a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Bo’s vest was sponsored by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. and embroidered with the sentiment “This gift of protection provided by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.”.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., established in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. This potentially lifesaving body armor for four-legged K9 officers is U.S. made, custom fitted, and National Institute of Justice (NIJ) certified. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided over 6,225 vests valued at $6.9 million to K9s in all 50 states, made possible by both private and corporate donations.

The program is open to U.S. dogs at least 20 months old and actively employed and certified with law enforcement or related agencies. K9s with expired vests are also eligible to participate. There are an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K9s throughout the United States.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., accepts tax-deductible contributions in any amount, while a single donation of $1,050 will sponsor one vest. Each vest has a value of $1800.00, weighs an average of 4-5 lbs., and comes with a five-year warranty. For more information or to learn about volunteer opportunities, please call (508) 824-6978. We want to extend a huge thank you to Streator Onized Credit Union for their incredible donation of $10,000 to our SWAT team!

We also want to thank all the other amazing businesses/people who have donated including Vactor, Coras Trailer Manufacturing, G & M Recycling & Disposal, U.S. Truck Body, Star Ford, Dairy Queen, Chippers Grill, B&R Cafe, B&R Grocery, The Eastwood, Streator Premier Slots, Chalkey’s East, Streator Collision & Upholstery, Stertil ALM, Lucas Insurance & Financial Services, Guns Save Life Inc, Streator Community Credit Union, J’s Tire, Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Scott Miller Trucking, Hawley Restoration Inc, and all of the citizens who participated in the 50/50 raffle.

On behalf of the Streator Police Department we would like to thank Knights of Columbus and the gentleman pictured that so graciously donated $1500 to the Cops 4 Kids! This was made possible for the people that participated in the Msgr George A Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council #790 held their Annual Golf Scramble on Saturday August 16, 2025.

Thank you again to Knights of Columbus who helped support a great cause and support Streator Police Department Cops 4 kids!
