Free for Harford County Residents!
At the Harford Waste Disposal Center, we recycle your car, boat, and cell phone batteries, as well as other rechargeable batteries.

Alkaline (AA,AAA,D,9V) batteries can be disposed of in the regular trash, or can be taken to some retailers for recycling.

Harford County residents can utilize any PaintCare drop-off locations to recycle unused paint for free. For more information on PaintCare, including acceptable paint, please visit https://www.paintcare.org/

At the Harford Waste Disposal Center, we accept Latex paint year-round subject to standard trash disposal fees found at https://www.harfordcountymd.gov/1858/HWDC-Disposal-Fees-and-Information

Oil-based paint can be brought to any Harford County Household Hazardous Waste collection event for free recycling. More information about these events can be found at https://www.harfordcountymd.gov/276/Household-Hazardous-Waste

We collect used medical equipment at the Harford Waste Disposal Center for Maryland's Durable Medical Equipment Re-Use program!

Did You Know?
Harford County residents can bring residential yard trim to either the Harford Mulch and Compost Facility or the Tollgate Residential Yard Trim Drop-off.
We accept brush and bush trimmings, grass clippings, leaves, and more! It's free for residents to drop off their yard trim, which we then recycle to make our mulch and compost!

Both the Harford Mulch and Compost Facility and the Tollgate Residential Yard Trim Drop-off are open until 3:00pm on operating days. Please arrive by 2:45pm.
