PLEASE SHARE: The news you’ve all been waiting for. As you may well know by now, we are about to enter into a construction project that will be the most disruptive we have seen. Thankfully, when it is completed, we will not have to deal with it for at least another 25 years. The last time we had to reconstruct the square was 1997.

The first phase of the project will be the complete removal and replacement of the concrete at the intersection of SR 14 and 43, This portion of the project is scheduled to begin on March 23rd and continue for about 100 days. It will most certainly be the most painful to get through.
Upon completion of the 14 and 43 intersection, they will begin the resurfacing portion of the project, this portion of the project will not be near as disruptive as the first phase. The resurfacing portion of the project will take place at night between the hours of 6pm and 5am.

All businesses along the project area will have access to the business at all times.

Traffic Impacts

State Route 14 & State Route 43 intersection improvements, Streetsboro
NEW IMPACT – Beginning Monday evening, March 23, the intersection of SR 14 & SR 43 will be reduced to one through lane in each direction with no left turns permitted. Motorists wishing to make a left turn at the intersection will need to use Market Square Dr.

NEW IMPACT – Beginning Monday evening, March 23, the SR 303 slip lane to SR 14 will be permanently closed. The detour will be Superior Ave.

NEW IMPACT – Beginning Monday, March 23, SR 303 at SR 14 will be closed through early July. The detour will be Superior Ave. to SR 14.

The only left turn that can be made during the rebuilding process will be from 43 northbound (coming from Kent) to SR 14 westbound (going towards I-480). There will be no other left turns allowed, you will have to follow the detours.

There is no other way this project can be completed, it must be done in one shot. We have given ample warning this project is taking place. Please use the next week or so to try to plan an alternative route. For you folks that are coming from the Ravenna, Shalersville and points east, please consider using the Ohio Turnpike. If you use the turnpike, you can get on in Shalersville off 44 and get off in Streetsboro at 187 and completely avoid all of the construction. I know there is a toll involved and only you can weigh the value of spending a couple dollars a day versus waiting what will certainly be an extended amount of time in traffic. On 44 from the intersection of 14 and 44 to the turnpike is about 9 minutes and once you are on the turnpike it is about a 6 minute trip to the Streetsboro exit.

I’m certain there are going to be many comments about how this should be done differently but there truly is no other way. We have to get through this and we will be done with it for 25-30 years.

I have included the link to ODOT’s website that will be updated.

City of Streetsboro
Fall Brush Pick Up
Begins Monday September 22nd, 2025

It's that time of year again... please make sure you read through the directions below before placing brush at the curb.

Chipping crews will spend a maximum of ONE-HALF HOUR chipping at each residence. Crews will then move on to the next resident. Brush will be collected from developed lots only. This chipping program was intended to assist by collecting brush that has been trimmed by the homeowner. We will go around to each neighborhood twice.

IF A COMMERCIAL CONTRACTOR IS HIRED TO TRIM TREES OR REMOVE TREES IN YOUR YARD, THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REMOVAL OF ANY BRUSH FROM THE PROPERTY.

Piles of brush containing foreign objects will not be collected. Grass, weeds, briars, dirt, trash, stumps, rocks, lumber, logs, firewood, and leaves cannot be mixed with the brush. Piles mixed with any of these items, will be refused by City crews. This includes fence posts, railroad ties, and wood pallets.

When the foreign objects are removed and the City has been notified, City crews will return to chip piles of brush that have been cleared of foreign objects only after all other brush has been collected.

Placement of brush. Please place the brush on the lawn or close to the roads edge, with the cut end facing the street. This correct placement of brush will assist crews in efficiently collecting the brush. Be careful not to stack the pile too high as it may cause traffic sight hazards. If your brush is too long, you may place the pile lengthwise on the tree lawn.

Resident’s assistance requested. We ask that you be patient with us while we provide this service, and if you have any comments or suggestions, please direct them to Bill Miller, Director of Public Services or Lexi Cannella, Administration Assistant, at 330-626-2856 or [email protected]. Thank you!
