We don't often get the share good news but today is the day...

We are proud to celebrate Chrissy Motz on being selected as a 2026 Special Olympics Ohio Hall of Fame Inductee!

Chrissy’s 25-year journey with Special Olympics is an incredible example of perseverance, determination, leadership, and the power of inclusion. Since joining in 2001, she has competed in 6 sports, earning more than 80 medals. She has adapted to changes in her physical abilities while continuing to challenge herself and inspire others.

Chrissy’s impact extends far beyond competition. She has participated in 17 consecutive years of the Polar Plunge, raising more than $85,000 in support of Special Olympics Ohio. Through athlete leadership, public speaking, media outreach, and advocacy, she has touched countless lives and shown others that everyone has something meaningful to contribute.

Chrissy was recently recognized by the City of Streetsboro with a Resolution of Congratulations honoring her extraordinary achievements and commitment to the Special Olympics movement. Part of the recognition includes a sign that will be posted for all to see as they enter the city.

Chrissy, your dedication, generosity, and unwavering spirit make our community proud. Thank you for reminding us all that success may look a little different for everyone.

Please join us in saying Happy Retirement to Sergeant Jon Hurley. After 23 years of dedicated service to the Streetsboro Police Department, Sgt Hurley is officially hanging up his badge.

From starting his career as a police officer to earning the rank of Sergeant, he has spent more than two decades serving the Streetsboro community and building friendships and memories that will last well beyond his final shift.

A career in law enforcement is about much more than the calls answered or the hours worked. It’s about the people you meet, the lives you touch, and the experiences that stay with you long after the work is over.

While one chapter is coming to an end, an exciting new one is beginning. Sergeant Hurley is looking forward to his newest and most important title yet: Opa. (German for Grandfather)

Congratulations on your retirement, Sergeant Hurley! Thank you for 23 years of service to Streetsboro. We wish you a long, happy, and well-earned retirement filled with family, good memories, and plenty of time in your new role as Opa!

Are you able to identify either of these people? On 9/8/26 they entered a local retailer and failed to pay for multiple items in their cart at the self-checkout register. Congratulations to Streetsboro's own Tamia and Tim Woods, founders of the Do It For James Foundation. In honor and memory of their son James, Tim and Tamia chose to share his story to save families from the same heartbreak they endured following his death. James was a teenage victim of sextortion and his story is pinned on the SPD page. It is a message that bears repeating.

From the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC): Tamia and Tim Woods turned unimaginable loss into action.
After losing their son, James, they chose to share their story to help protect other families from financial sextortion. Through the Do It For James Foundation, they have become leading voices in the fight against sextortion, advocating for change and educating families and young people.

If you have concerns about a solicitor, the best course of action is to call our non-emergency dispatch number at (330)626-4976. If you're not sure if an officer should come out, or dispatchers will be happy to talk with you about it. While we love Facebook, our messenger account is not monitored 24/7. By the time we see a message about something that is currently happening, it's often too late. So, if anything requires an immediate response, just go ahead and call.

🐾 FOUND PUPPY 🐾

Looks like this little guy decided to take a stroll through Camelot Village and ended up needing a little help from his friends at the Streetsboro Police Department. 🐶

He is safe and sound, but we’d really like to get him back home to his family!
