🚒🔥 Smoke Room & SCBA Training at Stringer FD

This morning our crew put in solid work with Smoke Room and SCBA training here at the Stringer Fire Department. We appreciate the Central Fire Department member who joined us to train side‑by‑side and sharpen skills together.

Firefighters ran smoke‑filled search drills, practiced SCBA confidence work, and focused on the techniques that keep our community safe. Training like this builds readiness, teamwork, and confidence for the next call.

Proud of everyone who showed up and put in the work. Strong training makes strong firefighters. 💪🔥

Multiple VFD’s responded Saturday evening just before 5 PM to the 100 block of Hwy 533 to assist Jasper County Fire Departments with a very large hay barn that was on fire with dark smoke showing. Units arrived to find the barn completely engulfed, being almost two-thirds full of large hay bales. Firefighters from both counties worked for three hours trying to combat the flames while also battling the rain. The barn and contents inside received extensive damage. There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is still unknown. Jasper County Fire Departments responding included Mossville VFD, Stringer VFD, Bay Springs FD, Hal VFD, and AmeriPro Ambulance was on standby. Jones County departments assisting included Soso VFD, Calhoun VFD, Pleasant Ridge VFD, Hebron VFD, and Shady Grove VFD.
