Sunny weather and blooming flowers have us celebrating the beauty of our own backyard.

Our Garden Party Social Series events, inspired by spring being in full swing, took us outside to enjoy fresh cut flower bars, seasonal veggies and fruits, and nature-inspired crafts.

It was quite the spring fling! 🌸

Elaine has been working steadily on this delicate petit point on canvas at Atria Ironwood Estates. With every stitch, there is love for her granddaughter and her great-granddaughter, who is due any day now.

"Petit point is very small-scale needlework," she shares. "It is characterized by tiny, delicate tent stitches used for fine details."

We are inspired by Elaine’s talent and thank her for sharing the gift she made with love, which will be treasured by her family.

“I don’t really play, I tinker," Bob demurs. Well, your neighbors loves to hear you “tinker” away in the community. We hear he draws quite the crowd!

For Mother's Day, we celebrated the masterpiece that is mom! 🖼️

From a French-inspired menu to a flower potting station, our residents and guests enjoyed an afternoon inspired by French Impressionist painters and their floral motifs.

Thank you to all our moms, grandmothers and mother figures who show us so much love! You're a work of art! 🎨

"We're not afraid of taking chances and doing grand things," shares Judy, a resident of Holiday Rock Creek. She and her husband, Harold, have been on many adventures in their 60 years of marriage. They've lived in Europe, raised three sons and opened a bookstore that they ran for more than 20 years.

Harold is a nationally recognized artist and does shows around Portland. Their apartment is filled with his beautiful color-drenched landscapes. "I'm proud to have such a creative husband," Judy adds.

Their secret to a long and happy marriage? "Have fun together," Harold shares with a smile.

We celebrated Cinco de Mayo with vibrant fiestas and delicious Mexican cuisine. From lively mariachi music to learning about the Battle of Puebla, our Cinco de Mayo celebration honored the rich heritage of Mexico. 🇲🇽

Residents at Holiday Niagara Village had a whimsical afternoon painting their very own garden gnomes. 🎨🍄🌷

While they were crafting, one of the residents shared an old rhyme inspired by the gnome's beards that had everyone laughing:

“Grandpa’s beard was long and wavy,
Sometimes gets in grandpa’s gravy,
He chews it in his sleep
And thinks it’s shredded wheat!”

"I like to dance because I can smile at everyone, and they catch it and smile back," says Jean. "Dancing makes me feel younger."

The Agawam Melody Band played at Holiday Quail Run Estates to an enthusiastic crowd. Residents clapped, sang and danced along to classic blues, jazz and rock hits.

"Live music allows me to be myself," shares Anne. "It just makes me happy!"

As you can see, a great time was had by all!

We took a bite out of the Big Apple at our Taste of Manhattan culinary event! 🍎🗽🚕

We enjoyed cups of deli chicken soup, corned beef sandwiches with slaw on rye, a side of Waldorf salad and for dessert, a classic black and white cookie!

To top it off, we watched the movie The Mirror Has Two Faces, a classic rom-com set in the city starring Barbra Streisand and Jeff Bridges.

We can't wait to see – and taste – the cuisine from our destination next month!

Residents at Atria Ironwood Estates had a “ball” playing pool noodle hockey!

"The noise level was at a high this afternoon with cheering and laughter," shares Leslie, the community's Engage Life Coordinator.

"Our team won! It was a close game – 6 to 5, shares resident Jean. "You'd think the Edmonton Oilers would want us," she laughs.

We heard there's going to be a rematch, and we're looking forward it!
