All local veterans, the Stroud American Legion Post #257 is facing a crisis. Due to a lack of members willing to take positions as officers, the state has made it clear that we have three options, option 1 we shut our doors and close the legion (this would cause the building to become property of the federal legion and orphan the legion auxillary). Option 2 we merge with another Legion (this could end in the same result as option 1), and the last option, option 3 we get some local veterans to step up and take positions as officers and help us get back on track, we would need an adjutant, a finance officer, a sergeant at arms, and a chaplain, and a 3 person advisory board. I will finish out this year as the commander and have a vice commander for this period. A secretary, 2nd vice commander, and historian would be great also. We will hold an emergency meeting. May 11th 2026, at 6 PM and would be very appreciative of any and all support. You do not have to be a member to attend. This is for all vets who would like to come out, support the legion and potentially step up and become a part of this organization.

Dance, dance, dance, you spoke and we listened, the Stroud American Legion (709 W 8th St, Stroud, OK) will be hosting Ms. Rissey every Tuesday evening starting 23 Sep 2025, for a free Dance Exercise Class, starts at 5:30. Bring your towel and water.
16 or older unless accompanied by an adult.
Music is all genres, a little of everything.
Instructor has 11 years of experience.
Come out and enjoy an hour for yourself.

(Update) the class is locked in and open to anyone 16 and older (younger if accompanied by an adult) we made a few changes to accomodate those who dont get off work until 5pm and we adjusted the day to tuesdays. So starting next tuesday Sep 23, at 5:30 pm, we would like to cordially invite everyone to come out and enjoy some dance excersize at the Stroud American Legion building. Bring a towel and some water and get you dance excersize on with Ms. Rissey

I am attempting to assess interest in a free dance exercise class (i.e. zumba) that would be taught by a certified instructor at the Stroud American Legion building, the class would initially be Mondays 5 PM to 6 PM, 16 years and older unless accompanied by an adult. Mrs. Short will provide music and equipment, all you would have to bring is a towel. Please comment yes below if you would be interested. thank you

I want to thank everyone who took time to come out to the American Legion this morning to attend the Memorial Day Ceremony. Sorry we had to change location from the cemetery but it was pretty swampy out there, anyway here are some pics of the ceremony.
