Pocono Area Transitional Housing

The purpose of PATH is to organize and operate housing with related services for the care and relief Resident share a lounge, bath and dining area.

A Safe Place
Resident families are each provided with a furnished bedroom (or two for larger families). Kitchen facilities include individual studio refrigerators and private cupboard space. PATH staff is available to provide support 24 hours a day. A case manager works with clients to identify their needs and help them attain their goals. Participating in the PATH program means families will work

at resolving their particular housing needs. PATH will help families establish goals and identify objectives leading to success for each family. They must set up a saving plan to be able to have a security deposit and first month’s rent. Budgeting and income stabilization are also addressed. Families may be in need of assistance from other service agencies and will be given appropriate community referrals. Obtaining a GED, health, nutrition, housekeeping, organizational habits, improving parenting and other coping skills, may also be part of their individual plan for success. Since 1990, PATH has provided crucial, temporary shelter for families with children that have lost their homes and are trying to build stable, productive lives. Within the safe haven of PATH, over 90,000 people nights have been spent under our roofs. All of our residents strive for a peaceful home to call their own.

🌟 Meet the Team Monday 🌟

This week, we’re excited to spotlight Mary Anne Katz, Assistant Treasurer at PATH, who has been part of the PATH family for more than 10 years!

Mary Anne’s passion for supporting PATH comes from personal experience. Growing up in a large family, she watched her parents work hard to juggle the bills and keep the lights on. That experience gave her a deep understanding of how challenging financial circumstances can be for families.

As Assistant Treasurer, Mary Anne draws on her experience in bookkeeping and business management, working alongside the Board of Directors to help guide PATH toward a stable future.

She hopes the community remembers that PATH families, just like all of us, are eager to grow, learn, and contribute to our community. 💙

✨ Fun Fact: Mary Anne is learning to grow shiitake mushrooms in her garden by plugging logs with mushroom spores! 🍄🌱

This week we're excited to spotlight Brian Davis, an Entrepreneur and dedicated PATH Board Member who has been part of the PATH family for 1 year!

Brian’s connection to PATH comes from a personal understanding of the challenges families can face. Having watched his mother raise his older sister as a single mother, he has always understood how difficult it can be to do it all. When he had the opportunity to get involved with PATH and help families get back on their feet, it was an easy decision.

What brings Brian the greatest fulfillment is the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in improving a family’s future.

Brian hopes the community understands that everyone needs a helping hand at some point in their lives. Some of us are simply fortunate enough to have had someone close by when we needed it. PATH is there for the families who don't.

🌟 Meet the Team Monday 🌟

This week we're honored to introduce Rev. Elizabeth Koerner, Pastor of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stroudsburg and a dedicated PATH Board Member who has been serving our mission for 4 years.

As the pastor of one of the founding churches of PATH, Rev. Koerner was honored to join the Board and continue the ministry of helping families find hope and stability. She is passionate about supporting parents and children as they begin a new path forward, knowing that the positive impact extends beyond each family to strengthen the entire community.

What brings Rev. Koerner the greatest sense of fulfillment is hearing the success stories of the families PATH serves—seeing meaningful connections formed, confidence restored, and individuals trusting in their ability to build a brighter future.
One thing she wishes the community better understood is that homelessness can happen to anyone. Every family's journey is unique, and the families PATH serves are simply working to regain their footing so they can provide the best possible future for their children.

This week we're excited to spotlight Shantelle Davis, an entrepreneur and valued community partner who has been supporting PATH for the past 2 years. Through her restaurant and catering business, Shantelle generously donates Thanksgiving meals each year, helping make the holiday a little brighter for PATH families.

Shantelle was inspired to get involved because she knows how quickly life can change. With the rising cost of housing and everyday necessities, one unexpected hardship can place a family in crisis. She believes children shouldn't have to carry the weight of circumstances beyond their control and is passionate about making a positive difference during difficult times.

What brings Shantelle the greatest sense of fulfillment is knowing her team can provide families with not only the essentials they need, but also the thoughtful extras that bring comfort, dignity, and a sense of normalcy.

One thing she wishes the community understood is that PATH is a compassionate organization working tirelessly to serve families in need. Continued support from donors and community partners is essential to ensure PATH can continue providing life-changing services to families throughout our community.

🌟 Meet the Team Monday 🌟

This week we are proud to spotlight Cheryl L. Caines, a dedicated PATH Board Member and Chair of the Nominating Committee, who has been serving with PATH for 3 years. Cheryl also spends time each week working directly with the moms and children at PATH through tutoring, homework support, and fun crafts.

A retired Special Education Teacher and Special Education Supervisor/Director, Cheryl has always been passionate about helping others become the best version of themselves and reminding people that they are not defined by their circumstances. That passion is what inspired her to become involved with PATH and support families navigating housing transitions.

What brings Cheryl the greatest sense of fulfillment is the opportunity to spend time with the children, helping them strengthen their academic and social skills while witnessing the growth and progress of both the children and their parents.

One thing Cheryl wishes the community better understood is that no one wakes up and chooses to become unhoused. As she shares, “We are all just one choice away from a different life.” Her perspective reminds us of the importance of compassion, understanding, and support for families facing difficult circumstances.

This week we're excited to introduce Israel Moore, Board Member at PATH and an Optometrist at Pocono Eye Associates, who has been serving on the PATH Board for the past year!

Israel first became involved with PATH after attending the Women, Wine & Wisdom fundraising event. Inspired by the love, compassion, and direct impact PATH has on families facing housing challenges in our community, she later toured the house and was honored to join the Board of Directors.

What brings Israel the greatest sense of fulfillment is helping raise awareness about the tremendous need that exists in our community and being part of creating meaningful change in the lives of our neighbors.

One thing she wishes the community better understood is that every person can make a difference. Whether through volunteering, donating, or simply sharing PATH's mission, community support helps families not only overcome immediate challenges but also build brighter futures for themselves and their children.

✨ Fun Fact: Israel is an avid traveler who has visited six continents—with Antarctica being the only one left on her list! 🌎✈️

This week we’re excited to spotlight Shatorah Wilson, Assistant Director/Case Manager at PATH, who has been serving families through the program for the past 2.5 years!

Shatorah began her career in social work in 2018 and has worked in a variety of roles supporting individuals and families experiencing homelessness and crisis. Her passion for advocacy and helping others find stability led her to PATH, where she now works alongside the team to provide high-quality support and services to families in need.

What brings Shatorah the greatest sense of fulfillment is watching clients overcome barriers, save toward their goals, and ultimately receive the keys to their new home. She takes pride in being an advocate her clients can count on—showing up with honesty, compassion, and unwavering support.

One thing Shatorah wishes the community understood is that PATH is much more than temporary housing. PATH is a stepping stone toward long-term stability, helping families build self-sufficiency, strengthen life skills, and create a foundation for a brighter future.

✨ Fun fact: Shatorah shared that her attention to detail and strong work ethic are influenced by her OCD, which has helped shape the care and dedication she brings to serving families every day. She’s also learned the importance of self-care and maintaining balance so she can continue supporting others at her best.
