The Stroudsburg Fire Department, along with Shawnee and Bushkill Fire Companies, assisted the Delaware Water Gap Fire Department on an Industrial Structure Fire at Westrock Paper Mill on Paper Mill Road in Smithfield Township.

A fire in a storage area was reported by staff. The building’s sprinkler system kept the fire at bay and crews were able to extinguish the flames in about 20 minutes.

Crews were on scene mopping up until around midnight.

The Stroudsburg Fire Department is assisting multiple agencies with a commercial structure fire at Werry’s pub and cottages along route 209 in Marshall’s Creek.

Initial firefighters from Marshall’s Creek were able to rescue a citizen in peril.

Route 209 is closed in the vicinity.

Please avoid the area.

The Stroudsburg Fire Department would like to congratulate Britni Brodhead-Hucko on her appointment to Full Time Firefighter with Upper Merion Fire Department.

Britni has been a member of our department for many years and is currently a Lieutenant. She excels in technical rescue, EMS, and is a dedicated public servant.

The Stroudsburg Fire Department offers our condolences to the members and families of the Walnuttown Volunteer Fire Department in Berks County for the tragic deaths of Chief Jeff Buck and Asst. Chief Rob Shick, who were both killed when a UTV they were in was struck head-on by a passing vehicle.

The pair were actively engaged in a search and rescue operation along Kutztown Road in Fleetwood when the car struck them.
