Friday evening, the members of the Pocono Irish American Club presented several local fire departments with generous donations of $2,000 each.

While many people know the organization for the well-known and celebrated St. Patrick’s Day Parade, what is perhaps less recognized — and, in my opinion, even more important — is the tremendous amount of community service and support they quietly provide throughout the year.

Departments that work together, should train together. We spent the evening training alongside Stroudsburg Fire Department with live fire and smoke at the Monroe County training facility.
