Friday evening, the members of the Pocono Irish American Club presented several local fire departments with generous donations of $2,000 each.

While many people know the organization for the well-known and celebrated St. Patrick’s Day Parade, what is perhaps less recognized — and, in my opinion, even more important — is the tremendous amount of community service and support they quietly provide throughout the year.

At approximately 1:30 AM this morning, our department responded to a reported vacant house fire in one of our local developments. Fortunately, upon arrival, the incident was determined to be a minor rubbish fire near the residence. Had this been an actual structure fire, accessing a water source would have been significantly challenging due to obstructed or non-visible fire hydrants. Residents are kindly requested to ensure a clear path and a 3-foot radius around the nearest fire hydrant are maintained. It is essential to recognize that the accessibility of fire hydrants is a collective responsibility. Your cooperation is crucial in enabling our team to provide effective emergency services.
