Pocono Garden Club

Pocono Garden Club The Pocono Garden Club's promotes the study of gardening, floral arts, and the conservation of our forests and native environments.

Our club began in 1936 when a group of ladies from Scotrun decided to form their own club after a visit to the Bushkill Garden Club. The first meeting was held with fourteen members. Officers were elected and the Pocono Garden Club was organized. The meetings were held in the members’ homes for 10 years. When the firehouse was built in Tannersville in 1949, that became their meeting place for 47 y

ears. The date selected was the second Tuesday of every month, as it continues today. Our mission is to create and foster a love of gardening, horticulture, landscape planning, and floral decorative arts. We accomplish these goals through our monthly programs and through scholarships to the Monroe County Conservation District, Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm, and contributions to various other local organizations. Our community service includes the maintenance of the Hughes Library Garden and the Judy Holtz Memorial Butterfly Garden at Kettle Creek,

The Pocono Garden Club now meets every month at the Monroe County Environmental Center, Bartonsville. Our meetings offer special informative programs, bus trips, hands-on workshops, and similar experiences. We offer bus trips to interesting and informative botanical gardens and perennial farms. The club’s major fundraiser is the Annual Flower Show and Plant Sale, held in July. Working together is what makes our club rewarding, purposeful, and often creates life-long friendships!
