Well, it's the first official day of no school for the summer. While the kids might still be jumping for joy, this SRO (and the entire police department) needed a way to continue and encourage positive interactions with our favorite Wildcats. This is all in good fun, especially if the kids don't know that we're hoping to catch them in the act of doing the right thing. Doing the right thing will be up to officer discretion but it could be anything from wearing a bicycle helmet, helping another person or turning in lost and found property.

So, if you're caught by the Stuart Police Department this summer, for doing the right thing, enjoy your free soft serve ice cream cone at The Stuart Scoop.

PS: And, unfortunately, I have to add that The Stuart Scoop has added personalized stickers to each coupon, as in the past, people have tried to make copies of the coupons. So, make sure to keep those stickers on, if you want to enjoy a cold treat during a hot summer month!

What better way to celebrate school being out for the summer than a chance to win a family pool pass to the Stuart Aquatic Center?

Courtesy of the Stuart Police Department Community Programs, starting today until June 5th, head to the Stuart Public Library and guess how many donut figures are in the lock box! And, yes, donut figures were the perfect item, since the contest winner will be announced on June 5th, National Donut Day!

Rules are simple! All ages welcome but only one guess per person, so make it a good one! Also, if the winner is a minor, a parent/guardian will be needed to claim the prize at city hall.

Good luck!

Donut stress, just do your best! I think that's really the best message that I can give our 5th graders as they prepare to take on middle school next year. And the message was printed on a donut shaped stress ball, no less.

And, while the 5th Grade Reverse Graduation Parade signifies many things, I always enjoy another reason to wear my donut costume.

5th graders, good luck at Redfield Middle School!

On Thursday, May 14th, Books & Badges was held at the Stuart Public Library. We had a great turn out with just under 30 kids! We read about what happens when you give a mouse a cookie and then the kids even got to make their own craft cookies with Miss Rachel. Books & Badges will continue throughout the summer, so be on the lookout for our flyers. Hope to see you there!

In the last few days, we've said many hellos and we've said many goodbyes.

We said hello to the WCV Class of 2039, as they graduated preschool and are prepared to join kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school year.

We said goodbye to the WCV Class of 2026, as they each prepare to embark on new and differing pathways. Some will travel far. Some will stay in the WCV area. And some will end up everywhere in between.

I look forward to all the adventures ahead.

Ok, you guys didn't disappoint. I just went through 20+ registrations that pushed the constraints of the police department drop box. With that said, registration is closed and I am at my max numbers for all of the camps.

However, I am looking for some additional help with chaperoning the camps. As always, costs are covered for chaperones, including receiving a fabulous camp shirt.

High school students are also welcome to join as assistance chaperones. Bonus, if you need volunteer hours for scholarships, programs, etc., I'm happy to fill out your volunteer sheets for this.

If you are interested in chaperoning any of the camps, please send me a message or an email with the camps you available to help out at.

Thanks!
Sgt. Katie

Join us for Books & Badges this Thursday at 10am at the Stuart Public Library! We'll be reading some of my favorite books, all about what happens if you give a dog a donut, a mouse a cookie or maybe even, a cat a cupcake. Plus, they might be bringing their other friends, a moose who likes muffins and a pig who likes pancakes.

Hope to see you there!

On Saturday, May 2nd, the Stuart Police Department Community Programs held our 4th annual bicycle rodeo at the Stuart Public Library. This time of year, it can be hard to schedule programs with all the other activities (youth soccer, baseball/softball events, graduation season, etc) happening on weekends. Moving forward, I am leaning towards moving the event to June, during the week, as an added program for kids to attend at the library during the summer.

We still had a great event, where I read a fabulous story about the importance of listening to your mother (about wearing your bicycle helmet!) because, if you don't, you might just end up with a mouthful of worms! The kids got a chance to feel a brain to see how fragile (squishy!) it is. I also tried my hands at a STEM activity involving eggs and what happens to an egg that isn't wearing a bicycle helmet. Result? It wasn't good. Very cracked egg. Yolk everywhere.

And, finally, a big congratulations to the winners of our bicycle raffle! Cheyenne Stonehocker, Gideon Majerus and Brooklynn Scott took home new bicycles for attending the program!
