• Exemptions – Homestead exemption qualifications, additional exemptions available, the Save Our Homes Benefit, and portability
• Legislative Updates – Breaking down what is and is not included in the proposed constitutional amendment

Our Office will be hosting one additional interactive Q&A Sessions, which is open to the public:

Jenny Fields recently had the pleasure of speaking with members of SMARTS (Seniors Making a Round Trip Somewhere). The presentation was held at the Blake Library in Stuart and included information on TRIM Notices, new construction and development throughout Martin County, legislative updates, and real estate data from across the Treasure Coast.

Thank you to the SMARTS Members for their warm welcome and opportunity to share valuable information in our community.

We’re often asked, “What happens if I disagree with the market value on my Notice of Proposed Property Taxes?”.

Individuals are encouraged to first contact our Office to speak with an appraiser. This provides us with an opportunity to address your concerns and explain the valuation process.

After talking to our Office, if you still disagree, you may file a petition with the Value Adjustment Board. This short video provides additional information regarding the petition-filing process.

Martin County’s ten (10) Taxing Authorities (who levy property taxes against your property) have submitted their 2026 proposed millage tax rates. Soon they will hold PUBLIC HEARINGS to adopt their budgets and their proposed tax rates. The purpose of the PUBLIC HEARINGS is to answer any questions from the public PRIOR TO TAKING FINAL ACTION. Once the proposed rates are adopted, they will be used to calculate your final property taxes that will be reflected on your November tax bill.

The handout below illustrates the 2026 proposed millage rates and their percent change from the rolled-back rate. Any increase in the millage rate above the rolled-back rate is defined as a tax increase by the Florida Department of Revenue and will have to be adopted as such.

Jenny Fields was recently asked by CBS12 to provide clarity regarding the proposed constitutional amendment that will appear on the November general election ballot.

Additional information can be found on our website at: https://www.pamartinfl.gov/our-office/latest-news/457-florida-property-tax-amendment-cs-hjr-1f-what-martin-county-property-owners-need-to-know

The Martin County Property Appraiser does not advocate for or against any ballot item but rather is providing additional information so the voters can make educated decisions.

If Florida voters approve Amendment 3 this November, their taxable property values would go down.
