Students United Celebrates Future Leaders and Scholarship Recipients

Recently, our Students United participants concluded their year with an inspiring Capstone Project presentation and graduation celebration. Throughout the program, these future leaders had the opportunity to visit and learn from a variety of local nonprofit organizations serving our community.

As part of their final Capstone Project, students presented on the nonprofits they explored during the year and shared thoughtful recommendations on why those organizations should receive United Way funding. Their presentations demonstrated not only what they learned about community needs, but also their growing understanding of philanthropy, leadership, and the importance of investing in impactful programs.

The event was a wonderful reflection of the passion, insight, and dedication these students have developed during their time in Students United. We are incredibly proud of each participant and excited to see how they continue to make a difference in our community.

In addition, we were thrilled to recognize two outstanding Students United alumni, Camryn and Ella, as recipients of the JN Smiles Scholarship. Both students continued their involvement in the program after graduation by assisting with events and supporting this yearโ€™s Students United participants. Their ongoing commitment to service and leadership exemplifies the spirit of the program.

Congratulations to Camryn and Ella on receiving these scholarships to assist them on their next journey. We know they have bright futures ahead and look forward to seeing all they accomplish!

From all of us at United Way of Martin County, we wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day weekend. โค๏ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™

This week has been filled with celebration as our community honors the Class of 2026 โ€“ a season meant for big dreams, proud moments and unforgettable memories.

Today, our hearts are heavy as we mourn the tragic loss of a local graduating senior whose life was taken far too soon on the way to graduation practice this morning.

There are no words that can fully ease the heartbreak felt by his family, friends, classmates, teachers, and all those who loved him. In moments like these, we are reminded that community is more than the events we celebrate together โ€“ itโ€™s also how we show up for one another in difficult times.

We stand with our community during this incredibly difficult time. We encourage everyone to hold their loved ones a little closer and keep all those impacted in your thoughts tonight. โค๏ธ

Our Students United group got an inside look at the many career paths that help keep healthcare moving forward during a tour of Cleveland Clinic Martin North. ๐Ÿ’™

From learning about different departments to hearing directly from professionals across the organization, students had the opportunity to see firsthand the teamwork, innovation, and dedication that goes into caring for our community every day.

Thank you to the Cleveland Clinic team for creating such a welcoming and engaging experience. Your leadership, flexibility, and enthusiasm made a lasting impression on our students and helped open their eyes to the many possibilities within Cleveland Clinic and the healthcare industry.

United Way of Martin County helped bring together community partners at Emerald V to discuss how we can better support local veterans and connect them with the services they need most.

Representatives from Evergreen Private Care, DDS4Vets, Treasure Coast Urgent Care, and Treasure Coast Psychiatry joined the conversation to evaluate what resources veterans are currently using, identify gaps in awareness or access, and explore ways to strengthen collaboration across organizations.

One of the needs identified was access to haircuts. Through a new partnership with the cosmetology program at Indian River State College, Emerald V residents will now be able to receive free haircuts while students gain valuable hands-on hours needed to become licensed professionals.

By facilitating these connections, United Way is helping ensure veterans are not only aware of available services, but connected to the care, support, and resources they deserve.

Thank you to all who participated in this important conversation and for your continued commitment to serving those who served us.
