Entrepreneurs and business owners can apply for the opportunity to pitch their business idea and compete for a share of **up to $14,500 in funding** to help move their business forward.

**Want to Help Shape Stuart's Future?**

The City of Stuart is looking for community members who would like to get involved and help make a difference in our community.

We currently have volunteer opportunities available on two important City commissions:

**Planning & Zoning Commission — 3 openings**

Interested in how Stuart grows and develops? Planning & Zoning helps review and make recommendations on matters involving land use, development, zoning, and the future growth of our community. The Commission generally meets on the **fourth Wednesday of each month at 4:30 p.m.**

**Stuart Historic Preservation Commission — 3 openings**

Interested in Stuart's history, downtown buildings, architecture, or preserving the character that makes our community unique? The Historic Preservation Commission works to recognize, protect, and promote Stuart's historic and cultural resources.

**You don't have to be an expert to get involved.** We are looking for community members who care about Stuart, are willing to learn, and want to contribute their ideas and perspective.

Serving on one of these commissions is a great way to learn more about your community, meet others who care about Stuart, and have a voice in decisions that help shape our future.

This week especially, we're grateful for the people who look out for Stuart's kids.

Officer Katie Guisinger spends her days where it matters most, with Stuart's kids. School resource officers build trust years before anyone needs to call for help.

The City of Stuart extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the victim who tragically lost her life during yesterday’s incident.

We also extend our thoughts and support to the Iowa State Patrol Trooper who was injured in the line of duty, along with his family, fellow Troopers, and colleagues. We wish him strength and a full recovery.

The City is grateful to the law enforcement officers, first responders, medical personnel, dispatchers, and others who responded and assisted during this difficult incident.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting with the investigation. To protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation, additional information regarding the incident will come from the appropriate law enforcement authorities.

The situation is under control, and there is no threat to the public.

Law enforcement will complete its investigation, and additional information will be provided as appropriate.
