🚚 Delivering more than meals to Martin County seniors! 💙

We were proud to join the Council on Aging at the Kane Center to celebrate the ribbon-cutting of its new Meals on Wheels truck!

The new vehicle was made possible in part through a United Way of Martin County Foundation Challenge Grant, helping ensure Meals on Wheels can continue delivering nutritious meals and meaningful connections to local seniors throughout our community.

United Way of Martin County President & CEO Carol G. Houwaart-Diez and United Way Foundation Board Chair Phil Wintercorn were honored to be part of the celebration alongside community members and local leaders who helped make this important investment possible. 🚚🥗💙

Congratulations to the Council on Aging of Martin County on this exciting addition!

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY!

When Kelley, Nurse Practitioner with the Council on Aging of Martin County’s Day Primary Care GUIDE program, met with Bill and his family, it became clear that both he and his wife, Nancy, were living with some level of dementia.

During a home safety visit, the Council on Aging team worked with their daughter Pat, to identify resources that could help.

Bill began receiving the assistance he needed to stay on track with his medications and was connected with the Adult Day Club and in-home services.

His wife, Nancy, soon enrolled in the Day Primary Care program and the Adult Day Club.

For this family, knowing where to turn helped transform a difficult situation into a plan for both parents.

National Make-A-Will Month was a reminder that having a plan of your own can provide that same kind of clarity for the people you love.

Through the Council on Aging Martin County’s partnership with FreeWill, you can create or update your will online, at no cost.

Because when circumstances change, knowing there’s a plan can make all the difference.

National Make-A-Will Month! 😊

When Steve began experiencing chest pain, he knew he needed help—but as the primary caregiver for his wife, Denise, who lives with severe dementia, he couldn’t leave her alone.

With help from the Council on Aging Martin County’s Day Primary Care GUIDE program, 24/7 care was arranged for Denise so Steve could get to the hospital—where he learned he needed emergency bypass surgery. ❤️

Their story is a powerful reminder: planning ahead matters.

During National Make-A-Will Month, take time to consult with your attorney, financial planner, and tax advisor, as you consider creating or updating your will through our partnership with FreeWill. A little planning today can provide peace of mind for the people you love tomorrow.

With many thanks to our incredible Pep Rally Gala fundraising teams, guests, sponsors, and community supporters, we were able to secure our BRAND NEW Meals on Wheels truck! This Thursday, we’ll be celebrating with a very special ribbon cutting! We’re especially excited to celebrate & showcase our teams who put their heart & time into helping achieve this VICTORY! 📣🙌❤️

Orange Theory Fitness came in 1st PLACE! 🧡And of course we have Lotus Loft (last year‘s Champion & this year‘s 2nd place), with New Home Dream Team coming in hot at 3rd! 🏆

A heartfelt thank you goes out to ALL of the teams that competed!

Closets by Design, Crane Creek Hoodies, Certified Payroll Solutions, Raymond James, Leadership Class 35, the COA staff, the COA Board of Directors, Indian town Civic Center, and Team Diamond

We owe an enormous THANK YOU to the United Way Foundation of Martin County for entrusting us with their first ever Matching Challenge Grant! They believed in the power of our Pep Rally Gala, and wanted to help us succeed in meeting our goal. When all is said and done, they helped make all this possible by making a generous contribution of $45,000!

And we simply must mention our amazing emcees Pete Morello & Steve Leighton with their irreplaceable energy and ability to connect with the crowd and encourage the generosity that helped make this all possible!

The ribbon cutting is a free event at 5:30 at the Kane Center this coming Thursday, August 27. Directly following, we have a Council On Aging Summer Sendoff Business After Hours with lite appetizers & cocktails in the Kane Center. The cost for the Summer Sendoff is just a $20 donation.
