The Sturbridge Police Department is notifying residents that River Road will be closed to all through traffic between Kelly Road (in the are of 89 River Road) and Farquhar Road starting at 7:00 AM on Tuesday through 3:30 PM on Wednesday.

This closure is necessary to allow the Department of Public Works to perform a culvert pipe replacement.

School bus operations will continue as scheduled. Coordination with affected families has already taken place to ensure seamless pickup and drop-off during this construction period.

Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and expect minor delays in the surrounding area. Thank you for your patience as we work to maintain our town infrastructure.

Greetings Sturbridge,

On behalf of the men and women of the Sturbridge Police Department, I invite our community to join us today in remembering and honoring the brave members of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.

Memorial Day is a solemn reminder of the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who gave everything to protect the freedoms we enjoy daily. Our deepest gratitude goes out to the Gold Star families who continue to carry the weight of that sacrifice, your resilience will never be forgotten.

As we gather with loved ones today, may we all pause to reflect on the true meaning of this day and remember those who never came home.

Join us in keeping our fallen heroes in your thoughts.

Happy 90th Birthday Bob!!

Greetings Sturbridge,

Many of us know him simply as “Bobby” the friendly face in the hallways of Tantasqua Regional High School who always has a smile, a kind word, and a deep pride in caring for our school community.

For nearly 50 years, Bob Collins has dedicated himself to generations of students, staff, and families. His impact reaches far beyond the walls of the school. This past week, the Tantasqua community came together to celebrate Bobby’s milestone 90th birthday with an incredible surprise assembly.

The event honored his decades of service, his relentless positivity, and the remarkable example he sets every single day.

As a proud United States Navy veteran, Bobby still lives by the motto his mother taught him: “To rest is to rust.”

Bobby was always working hard every day when I attended Tantasqua. Like so many others, I can truly say he is a genuinely great man who has left a lasting impression on everyone he meets.

Please join me in wishing Bob “Bobby” Collins a very happy 90th birthday and thanking him for his half-century of dedicated service to our youth and our community.

On behalf of the men and women of the Sturbridge Police Department: Happy Birthday, Bobby, and thank you for everything you do for Sturbridge! 🇺🇸🎉
