It is with heavy hearts that we report the passing of Col. Charles Compton of Illinois Wing - Civil Air Patrol. Compton was a World War II subchaser and flew missions out of CAP's first coastal patrol base. He would have turned 104 on June 19.

His efforts will have a profound and lasting impact on all of us ❤️.

In the United States, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777, by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. The Flag Resolution, passed on June 14, 1777, stated: "Resolved, That the flag of the thirteen United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation." This design was created by Francis Hopkinson, a Continental Congressman from New Jersey, and a consultant to the design of the Great Seal of the United States.

#CharacterMatters ... The focus #virtue for Civil Air Patrol cadet character development is #RespectfulDisagreement. According to everyone's neighbor, Mr. (Reverend) Fred Rogers:

“Out of difference can come the reinforcement of two important values. One is tolerance and the other is awareness that people who disagree over the things they hold dear really can live together in love and respect.”

Stay tuned for more on this important virtue during the month of June.

Hi I am a patron member of Civil Air Patrol and USAF Veteran I also collect Civil Air Patrol patches and their heraldry and was wondering if I could trade, buy or make a donation for your Squadron patch. If you have any other versions of your patch or other Civil Air Patrol patches new or used I would be interested in those too. I can send a check, money order or paypal along with a return envelope. Thank you Roger LaShomb 1592 Co. Rt. 38 Norfolk, New York 13667
Students in 8th, 9th, 10th, or 11th grade who have engaged in community service, or are interested in emergency preparedness, are encouraged to apply to serve on the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s, Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Youth Preparedness Council. The application is available online at : https://community.fema.gov/applytoYPC Applicants must complete the application form and submit two letters of recommendation and their academic records. Applications are due March 31. To start your online application, click here. You can also download the application and submit a PDF copy of the application here. Youth Preparedness Council FEMA created the Youth Preparedness Council (YPC) in 2012 to bring together young leaders who are interested in supporting disaster preparedness and making a difference in their communities, by completing disaster preparedness projects nationally and locally. The YPC supports FEMA’s commitment to involve America’s youth in preparedness-related activities. It also provides an avenue to engage young people by taking into account their perspectives, feedback, and opinions. YPC members meet with FEMA staff throughout their term to provide input on strategies, initiatives, and projects. YPC members also attend the annual YPC Summit in Washington, DC, meet periodically with FEMA representatives, and work to complete a number of emergency preparedness projects.
