Just an FYI : This evening I was at the event at the city park with family, I interacted with the Mayor, City Council members etc and they with me. A person that was there with her kids asked " aren't you running for the City Council "?
"Yes"I said.
"Wow, you were really friendly with them, I don't know if I could be that friendly with someone I was running against "
I informed her" I am not running against them, I'm running FOR the residents ".
She definitely understood the point.
Respect for one another goes a long way, we don't always have to share the opinions, or have the same platform &plans. We should however respect each other's differences.
I have and always will be a person that interacts with everyone and everyone, I have always been there to answer the people, explain a position, talk with,promote and explore avenues that can give our businesses any advantage over those in other areas.
"Sunday Sales" was one I initiated after talking with the local businesses. It was passed. It has been profitable for our local businesses, brought in needed extra revenue, as well as additional ABC money.

Receipts, yes I have them.
I will trickle them in over the next month or 2.
So many people have been un-iformed as to what my personal goal was as a representative of the voters in Sturgis. 1st and foremost, improve our" quality of life", and be 100% accessible. This was also the goal of all the Council Members I served with. I remember when Sam Omar asked about moving a cement trash receptacle to a different location( it had been moved during an event), I personally moved that monstrosity myself, it took an hr, but it got done.
If resident/ business person asked, I answered.
I will continue that tradition. Working for the Voters & the City.

Good evening everyone,
I have been following and looking ahead to what I feel is a big concern to not just Sturgis, but our County as well.
2 words....Data Center!, over the last 6 months or so,I have read many,many articles on these centers. A few things come to mind.
1. They do initially create jobs in the construction.
2. After construction, the jobs basically go away, some tech & security is left.
3. The resources needed for these is incredible, (water/electricity/etc. More than Sturgis can handle IMO.
4. IMO, now is the time to place a moratorium on this type of facility in or around our city.
5. Watching how quick technology advances, and less actual space is needed for things like computers, cell phones,televisions, etc, who is to say the data centers today,won't be obsolete in a few years & a rebuild elsewhere will be financially more effiicient ?Today's data centers could and probably will be obsolete because they may need 1/10th of the space they use today.
I would invite people to look up " Saline,Co,Michigan " for so insight on how some of these companies deal with cities that don't set regulations, ammend ordinances,create safeguards for their citizens.
If elected, I will stand with the residents long term needs,and vote against the quick buck offered by questionable players that may not have the Best interest of Sturgis in mind and may be detrimental to The City of Sturgis, and ask and work with the fiscal court to ensure we are protected.

I replaced my older flag tonight. I have a couple days off this week (6/29 - 7/2),
If anyone in Sturgis needs assistance hanging a flag, I will be more than happy to swing by with my ladder and get it hung for you( you must purchase a flag and pole) my fantastic son in law David, help me replace mine tonight. My turn to pay it forward.
For 40yrs, our American Flag is one of the 1st things I have attached to my house.
Thank God we live in this great Country.
250yrs and going Strong.
If you don't have a flag,or a place to hang one on, purchase a smaller one attached to a stick, & place it front and center. God Bless America

It has been awhile since there has been a post on this page,but here it goes.
I am running to regain a seat on The Sturgis City Council, Why is the question in most people's minds.
1. I want to and will represent EVERY resident of Sturgis.
2. I have listened to everyone that says the current Council are puppets.Yes people, etc. That is just what I have heard for a couple of years. IMO, no one but me and Bernie Vinroe go to meetings on a regular basis.
3. People are concerned about overreaching into their liberties as a resident ( storage containers for one)
4. I would like to see our residents see some relief on their Sturgis Utility bill( water/Sewer.
5.I want to see repairs to our roads!!, they,IMO are in terrible condition, we have more orange cones out than ever before.
6. I would work towards getting some of our City services ( which we pay for) reinstated ( meter readings for 1).
7. I as always will be accessible to every resident if Sturgis, and will bring any new concerns to the table. Anyone that reached out to me in the past, got a message, phone call,or a personal visit, on whatever the issue was.
I have sat at way too many meetings where some Council members don't share anything concerning our residents.
I Love Sturgis!!!,
I just want all of us to get what we are paying for, Quality Water, City Services, and a Fantastic Quality of life.
I will not drag my feet,.
If anyone wants to ask about the 2 Councils I was part of,I Won't do it on FB, I am more than happy to do it in person.

If you want a change, I am an option.
What do you have to lose,except more money,and less services.
Vote for someone that will take your concerns to the City Council Meetings....Pete Van.
