As a proud native of Sturgis, Mississippi I have seen firsthand the effects of poverty in our state. As a child, I experienced a time in history when a person's access to opportunity was largely determined by their class and race. Fortunately, I was blessed to have been guided by my neighbors, citizens, and local and state officials who provided me with the assistance I needed to create success. This experience is what drives me to strive for change in our state. I'm committed to standing up for all of Mississippi and to helping others break through barriers and create lasting success, growth, and progress. If you, like me, want to see incredible things happen for the state of Mississippi then we must come together, we must collaborate, and we must unite to pursue our shared goal of success. To this end, we must form partnerships between the public and private sectors to ensure that these organizations have the resources and support they need to make a real impact.
