Happy Monday, Ricebird families! We hope you enjoyed the long weekend for Labor Day. Here's what's ahead in 4th grade this week:

📚 **Literacy:** Wrapping up Unit 1 with a focus on writing with detail, revising, and strong conclusions in personal narratives
🔢 **Math:** Adding and subtracting whole numbers
🔬 **Science:** Exploring energy conversions
📝 **ATLAS Interim** assessments happening Tuesday–Friday

Check out what we’re learning in 2nd grade this week!! 😁

🔠 CKLA Skills: We are reviewing first grade standards, as well as assessing spelling skills then assessing our knowledge/skills from the whole unit.
🔢 Math: We are learning about using bar graphs and picture graphs to solve problems.
📖 CKLA Knowledge: We are continuing to learn about Early Asian Civilizations.

Important for this week:
• CKLA Skills spelling assessment will be on Wednesday (9/9/26).
• Math assessment for Lesson 4 will be on Friday (9/11/26).
• CKLA Skills unit assessment will be on Friday (9/11/26).
• Math homework will be sent home on Tuesday in the maroon folder — it will be due back by Friday!

📚 1st Grade Weekly Overview | Week of September 7th! 🌟

It’s another great week of learning in 1st grade! Here’s a look at what our Ricebirds will be working on:

📖 Reading & Phonics: Digraphs, blending and segmenting, short vowels, tricky words, and reading comprehension
➕ Math: Addition strategies and using addition to subtract
🧠 CKLA: The Human Body — learning more about how our amazing bodies work!
✏️ Writing: Informational writing

🇺🇸 Monday is Labor Day, so there will be NO SCHOOL. We hope everyone enjoys the long weekend!

📸🏆 PAE Student Photographers Shine at the AAIM Student Media Festival! 🏆📸

We are so proud of our young photographers who were recognized at the AAIM Student Media Festival for their outstanding photography! 🎉

📸 Jayce Williams — 1st Place, K–3 Color Photography in both the Edited and Unedited categories for his photographs “Ripple” and “Look Up.” 🌊👀

📸 Evie Bayless — 2nd Place, K–3 Color Unedited Photography for her photograph “Pechen” and “Peach.” 🍑

📸 Marnu Malan — 1st Place, 4–5 Black & White Unedited Photography for “Lovely Day.” 🖤🤍

We are incredibly proud of these young photographers and their creativity, perspective, and eye for capturing special moments! 📷❤️

🎨 Be on the lookout for information about this year’s Stuttgart School District Photography Contest! Students will have the opportunity to showcase their photography and compete for a chance to advance to the state level!

🏅📚 Nursery Rhyme Olympics! 📚🏅

Our kindergarteners went for the GOLD as they competed in nursery rhyme Olympics! 🥇 From rhymes to races, we had so much fun bringing our favorite nursery rhymes to life! ⭐️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Learning + laughter + a little friendly competition = the perfect day! ❤️
