Just a friendly reminder to make sure your vehicle remains locked, even in your own driveway. We have recently received a complaint of someone entering an unlocked vehicle at Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve and taking cash from a wallet inside the vehicle.

As always, get to know your neighbors and your neighborhood. Keep an eye out for one another. If you see something suspicious, say something. To report suspicious activity, contact the Brown County Sheriff's Office at 920-391-7450. In an emergency, please call 911.

Update: The driver has been identified. This was an ongoing issue that was occuring at not only this location but many others on numerous occasions. It takes time and money to have a parking lot graded after this damage. This is an equestrian parking lot and ruts can easily cause injuries to horses.

Original post: The Village of Suamico is looking for assistance identifying the driver of this vehicle regarding damage done to the Reforestation parking lot on Sunrise Rd.

Current road closures due to water over the roadway.

Update as of 8:00am on May 20th:

- Sunset Beach Road/Lane starting near the boat launch
- Bayside Road from Resort Road to Norfield Road

Flood Safety

The following common sense guidelines can help you from the dangers of flooding:

Do not drive through a flooded area. More people drown in cars than anywhere else. Do not drive around barriers.

Do not walk through flowing water. Currents can be deceptive. Six (6) inches of water can knock you off your feet.

Stay away from power lines and electrical wires. If your house is about to be flooded, turn off the power at the service box. Electrical current can travel through the water. Electrocution is the second (2nd) leading cause of death during floods.

Be alert to gas leaks. Turn off the gas to your house before it floods. If you smell gas, report it to a Village official or your gas company. Do not use candles, lanterns, or open flames if you smell gas or are unsure if your gas has been shut off.

Keep children away from the flood waters, ditches, culverts, and storm drains. Flood waters can carry unimaginable items that have dislodged themselves. Culverts may suck smaller people into them, rendering them helpless.

Clean everything that has been wet. Flood water will be contaminated with sewage and other chemicals which pose severe health threats.

Do not use gas engines, such as generators, or charcoal fires indoors during power outages. Carbon monoxide exhaust can pose serious health hazards.
