Compassionate Oregon is a 501(c)4 non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that those Oregonians who find the use of cannabis beneficial for mitigating their conditions can do so without it negatively affecting their health care choices or treatment options. Compassionate Oregon will work to reform all laws surrounding the use of medical marijuana, with special emphasis on Veterans, employment and government services and programs.

Study shows states with Medical Cannabis laws have a significant decrease in employees healthcare premiums

Miami, FL: Medical cannabis access is associated with significant decreases in employees’ healthcare premiums, according to data published in the journal Applied Health Economics and Health Policy.

“For states that adopted a medical cannabis law, there was a significant decrease in the … average total premium per employee for single and employee-plus-one coverage plans per year … compared with states without such laws

The authors’ findings are consistent with a 2023 study, which reported that medical cannabis access is associated with “a sizeable and statistically significant reduction in annual per-enrollee premiums of about $1600.”

ANA Officially Recognizes Cannabis Nursing as a Specialty Nursing Practice

SILVER SPRING, MD – The American Nurses Association (ANA), representing the interests of the nation’s more than 5 million nurses, announces the formal recognition of cannabis nursing as a nursing specialty. Cannabis nursing is identified by the American Cannabis Nurses Association (ACNA) as a specialty nursing practice focused on the care of health care consumers seeking education and guidance in the therapeutic use of cannabis.

“ANA is pleased to officially recognize cannabis nursing practice as a nursing specialty,” said ANA President Jennifer Mensik Kennedy, PhD, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN. “This recognition highlights the essential role and special contribution of cannabis nurses to the health care system and promotes enhanced integration of cannabis therapies for health care consumers across diverse health care settings.”
