Another Library has Burned...

A client of ours for the last 3 years has passed away.
John W. Holmes (April 1, 1933-Dec. 16, 2019) grew up in Ashland, Illinois. He graduated Ashland High School in 1951. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1951 to 1955, including a posting in Algiers as a radio operator. Upon his discharge, he moved to Metropolis, Illinois and lived the remainder of his life there. He was an avid Country music fan, a devoted follower of the Indianapolis 500, and a life-long student of history.
John embraced Metropolis and Massac County events, always encouraging local residents to make out-of-town visitors feel welcome.
John received his first computer for Christmas, 1999, and from that time on he used the internet and, later, social media as a means of engaging with friends and family across the country. He never failed to express his sincere gratitude for the services provided to his home of Metropolis by police, fire fighters and first responders.
John lived his life by the principle belief that he was no better, but no less, than anyone else. He would respect your opinion and your right to express it, even if he did not agree with you, and he expected the same in return. If you had the privilege of his friendship, you had it for life, and were a richer person for it.
One of his passions was maintaining a list of living World War II veterans from Massac County, and noting the passing of each with respect and honor. He often commented that “another library has burned” with the loss of each veteran. The same is true at his passing. Rest in Peace and Honor.

'Nuts!' US troops thwarted Hitler's last gamble 75 years ago

When ERBC opened its doors in 2005, most of our clients for the VA’s Pension benefit were Battle of the Bulge survivors, as the regiments from New England were deployed to that region. My favorite story, perhaps because it didn’t invoke the death of their friend, frostbite or terror, was from an Army nurse who talked about the cease fire for Christmas and the first time she every had bourbon.

Vern Hunt survived two years of brutal combat on the front lines in World War II Germany only to be killed by a "clerical error" 73 years later. The VA couldn't correct its own mistake and cut off his benefits instead.

VA Imposes Strict Limits on Controversial Ketamine-Based Depression Treatment

After the VA announced in March it would offer a highly anticipated ketamin-based medication for treatment-resistant depression, a Department of Veterans Affairs panel voted last week against widespread use, instead of restricting the drug for pre-approved, case-by-case treatment.

A VA panel voted last week against widespread use of the drug.

Thanks to all. Mom received the approval letter for benefits. You were all so much help. I am so glad that I was able to connect with your organization. I hope every veteran and/or survivor finds out about you.
I would like to thank Elder Resource Benefits for their assistance in helping me file for VA benefits for my mom. They were awesome! They instructed me from filing the initial "intent to file", a list of information to gather, all the financial statements needed and paperwork needed from my fathers discharge from the service. They sent me step by step instructions in emails and the forms to fill out. It was a long process that I could never have done on my own! They filled out the application, sent it to me for my mom to sign and I sent it in to the VA on May 9th. 2 months later, the first week of July I received the approval letter for her benefit! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE AT ELDER RESOURSE BENEFITS!!😃 I now have peace of mind that mom can stay where she is a lot longer! 😊
Thank you for your help! Your guidance through the process will help my 91 year old aunt to continue living in her home with the caregiver that she depends on.
We have used the services twice now with excellent results! Can highly recommend!!
Go the extra mile this Mother's Day! See if your mom qualifies for VA Benefits!
If you are able to use this consulting firm then don't go anywhere else. I completed the application with their help for my parents who are 89 and 90. I had conference calls that were so informative and helpful to me. Every email was answering expeditiously. This was all a great relief for me in completing the application and waiting for the award. I was so super nervous but they put my fears to rest and they were always on point with their answers and explanations. We actually received our award early which was fantastic! Thank you for everything.
Last January of 2019, it became obvious that our parents needed a lot more help to continue to live safely. We moved them to an Assisted Living facility. It is VERY expensive. Our dad is a Korean War vet and a retired postal worker and my mom was a waitress. They had some savings and investments, but it would not last long. My sister had attended a symposium describing the services offered by Elder Resource Benefits Consulting. It appeared to be perfect to help us apply for the Veteran's Benefit for Aid And Attendance. I began the application process in March, filing the completed 64 page document in June. In Oct., they were awarded this benefit retroactive to April 1! . I could not have ever completed this process without the help and advice of Patti Serveas and Jeannie Darnell. They guided me through all the paperwork and provided all the necessary forms. They reminded me of deadlines and detailed the required documentation. I can not thank the consultants enough! The many, many phone calls, emails and explanations and reassurances were so comforting. Without their help, my siblings and I would be at a loss for taking care of our folks. So grateful to this Group. They truly care about our veterans and their families!
Can't find enough words to express how much working with Elder Resource has helped me, and what a pleasure it has been the whole time. Alway got an easy appt, they always call porm[tly on time, and are always courteous and knowledgeable. My Mom was awarded her full amount in only 4 months time. It was totally through their help, because I had no idea. They are so patient and kind as well!🙂
Elder Resource Benefits Consultants are top notch in every area of service! I was treated with kindness and patience, when I knew hardly anything about how VA benefits works. I was given invaluable information to help my Mom be able to afford to live in a nice facility, getting the care she needs, and enjoy the last of her years with dignity and joyfulness! I always had easy access with ERBC and it was so easy to make an appointment online with any questions or anything I did not understand that came up. Because of their knowledge and excellent help, my Mom received the full VA benefits! What a blessing they have been. I can't put enough emphasis on their knowledge, kindness and caring! They took a load of stress of of my family! Thank you all, you do a great service!
Jeannie D. was fantastic and I will always be grateful for her patience as I had lots of questions! The company is very thorough in helping fill out forms completely. Thanks much everyone.
This company has been fantastic in helping with VA benefit issues. Patty know her business very well, and is always open for communicating with her. Am very please with their help.
THEY ARE WONDERFUL, THANK YOU
