🌱🌼 A healthy lawn and garden starts with simple, sustainable choices.

Creating a beautiful outdoor space doesn't have to come at the expense of our local waterways. By reducing waste and using environmentally friendly landscaping practices, you can help protect Sudbury's streams, ponds, and rivers while growing a thriving yard.

Here are a few easy ways to make a difference:

🌿 Compost yard and food waste.

💧 Water only when needed.

🌱 Use fertilizers and pesticides sparingly.

🍂 Leave some natural material to enrich your soil instead of over-raking.

Small changes in your yard can have a big impact on water quality throughout our community.

🌱♻️ Turn kitchen scraps into something your garden will love!

Composting is an easy way to reduce household waste while protecting Sudbury's waterways. Instead of sending food scraps and yard waste to the landfill, composting creates nutrient-rich soil that helps gardens thrive and improves the soil's ability to absorb rainwater.

Benefits of composting include:

🍎 Reducing food waste.

🌿 Creating healthy, natural fertilizer.

💧 Reducing stormwater runoff and erosion.

🌎 Supporting cleaner, healthier local waterways.

Small changes at home can make a lasting impact on our environment—one compost pile at a time!

🐾💙 Every walk is an opportunity to protect our waterways.

It may seem like a small task, but picking up after your pet makes a big difference. When pet waste is left on the ground, rain can wash harmful bacteria and excess nutrients into nearby storm drains, where they flow untreated into local streams, ponds, and wetlands.

Help keep Sudbury clean and healthy by:

🐕 Always bringing waste bags on walks.

🗑️ Picking up after your pet every time.

🚮 Placing bagged pet waste in a trash can.

A few extra seconds today can help protect our environment for everyone tomorrow.

Did you know that bicycles are not recyclable through regular recycling programs? Instead of throwing them away, bring them to the Transfer Station and place them in the Put & Take Shed, where they can be reused by someone else.

A Transfer Station recycling sticker is required for access and is available for a small fee of $35 per fiscal year.
