Election Day Is Here!

From the bottom of our hearts, we are grateful to have met and spoken with so many of our friends and neighbors this year. We’ve listened to all your comments and concerns, and we’re ready to make Suffern the greatest place to live, work, and raise a family.

But don’t take our word for it — Preserve Ramapo has endorsed our campaign by saying, “This year, opt for a fresh start, and give Mike Curley the opportunity to take the helm and lead Suffern towards a new destination.”

Vote For Curley, Corrigan, and Barone on Line A or Line D.

The polls are open from 6 am to 9 pm.

Thank you for your support.

Two Great Community Events In Suffern Tomorrow!

We can’t wait to see you tomorrow (Saturday, October 16) at two great Suffern events! First up is the annual Halloween Window Painting Contest, where teams of Suffern Middle School students will decorate windows of village businesses starting at 10 am.

Also tomorrow, the American Legion is hosting a fundraiser for Suffern Little League and Suffern Midget Mounties. The Legion is on Pavilion Road, and the event takes place from noon to 4 pm, with a suggested donation of $10.

Halloween Window Painting and the Little League/Midget Mounties Fundraiser — two great events that bring our community together!

Armando “Chick” Galella, 1921-2021

The Suffern Village Board, and all of Suffern, mourn the passing of our old friend Armando "Chick" Galella yesterday, (September 29, 2021) at the age of 100. A true American hero who survived the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, Chick blessed us for many years with his presence at our annual Pearl Harbor observances.

His patriotism and his faith in our country will always live on, and his smile will forever remain in our hearts.

Godspeed, Chick.

Barone & Corrigan Support The Lafayette Theater Redevelopment!

The Lafayette Theater is one of the jewels of downtown Suffern. As residents, as Village Board members, and as long-time patrons, we want you to know we fully support the plan to redevelop the Lafayette Theater!

Owner Ari Benmosche plans to renovate the Lafayette Theater and make it a world-class venue for live music, comedy, and other performances, while also hosting film festivals and other special movie events. This will bring more people into Suffern, create more job opportunities, support our local businesses, and enhance the quality of life throughout the area.

We’re ready to vote YES, and we look forward to being there on opening night!

*** Deputy Mayor Charles Barone and Trustee Jo Meegan-Corrigan ***

WE DID IT!!!

The Suffern Trustees — Jo Meegan-Corrigan, Charlie Barone, Steve Alpert, and Fred Sauberman — just voted YES on the best budget in at least 25 years. Not only did we keep it under the tax cap, we got it down to about 1.1%!

Mayor Markunas voted NO. He wanted more spending and higher taxes.

Mayor Markunas also wanted the Trustees to vote to break the tax cap, but we refused. We knew we could get the budget down to historic lows, and we did — while the Mayor offered no ideas to reduce his budget.
