RPD was happy to give a send-off to the Suffern Girls Lacrosse Team as they head to Cortland to face off with Huntington in the Final 4. And our Suffern High School Track and Field state qualifiers who are headed to states in Rochester. Best of luck to all of our athletes, LET’S GO MOUNTIES!

The Ramapo Police Department was proud to attend Chaverim of Rockland’s Kids’ Safety Day in Monsey!

This annual event provides families with valuable safety information and resources, and we are always grateful to be invited to participate. Our officers enjoyed meeting so many children and parents, distributing safety flyers, discussing important safety topics, and answering plenty of “police questions” from some very curious kids.

Building positive relationships with our community is an important part of what we do, and events like this provide a wonderful opportunity to connect with families in a fun setting.

Thank you to Chaverim of Rockland for hosting another outstanding event and for all they do to keep our community safe.

🐻 Bear Rescue in Hillburn 🐻

This afternoon, Ramapo Police officers responded to Brook Street in Hillburn after receiving a report of a bear cub with a container stuck on its head.

Working together with the caller, our officers were able to safely remove the container, freeing the cub from what could have become a dangerous situation. Once released, the bear cub quickly ran off into the woods unharmed.

We appreciate the caller’s vigilance and willingness to assist. Sometimes, a simple phone call can make all the difference, for people and wildlife alike.

Today, we celebrated D.A.R.E. graduation at Hempstead Elementary! 🎓👏

A big thank you to Town of Ramapo Supervisor Michael Specht, the Town of Ramapo Board, and the East Ramapo Central School District for their continued support of this important program.

With Officer Samora’s guidance, our students learned valuable lessons about making smart, safe choices for their future.

Congratulations to all of our graduates—we are incredibly proud of you!

Today, we were at Cherry Lane School’s Emergency Services Day! It was equal parts fun and educational, with everyone learning about the vital work of our emergency teams. From K9 units to mounted officers, from Tallman Fire Department to Faist EMS, and our colleagues at Spring Valley PD and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office…everyone played a part.

One highlight was our Skydio DFR drone demo by Dispatcher Seth Needleman, a certified X10 remote pilot instructor. Students and teachers learned firsthand how our drones are beating patrols to the scene, providing live intelligence before the call is even fully entered. Experiencing “sub-zero response times” in action is a game-changer!

It was a great day for the kids and for all of us in emergency services, showing just how well we work together with the school district!

Yesterday, the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office held a successful Gun Buyback Event. The Ramapo Police Department was glad to be a part of the collaborative efforts of the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, the Spring Valley Police Department, and the New York State Police. Together, a total of 19 fi****ms; including 11 handguns, 3 assault rifles, and 5 long guns were collected.

Every firearm voluntarily turned in represents one less opportunity for a weapon to be lost, stolen, misused, or involved in a tragedy. We’re proud to be a part of these efforts for a safer community.

☀️ Good Morning, Ramapo!

A beautiful view from above this morning courtesy of RAPTOR and our Skydio Drone as First Responder program.

From the New York City skyline in the distance to the neighborhoods, businesses, and communities we proudly serve right here at home, these images are a reminder of just how special our corner of New York is.

And since all eyes are on the New York Knicks tonight as they take the court in Game 2 of the NBA Finals, we figured we'd show a little hometown support from the sky. 🏀🗽

Good luck, Knicks. We'll be watching. Have a safe and great day, Ramapo!

Officer Alexander, our D.A.R.E./School Resource Officer, recently attended the Roll Into Summer event at Kakiat STEAM Academy. The event, hosted in partnership with the East Ramapo Family Resource Center, promoted healthy living, bicycle safety, pedestrian safety and provided fun activities and giveaways for local families.

The Ramapo Police PBA was also proud to support the event by donating a bicycle, which was auctioned off to a deserving family in the community.

Memorial Day Watch Fire 🇺🇸

Friday night, members of the Ramapo Police Department joined our community at the Memorial Day Watch Fire at Gene Levy Park to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. The Ramapo Police Honor Guard presented the colors during the ceremony, attended by Chief Hyman, Captain Colbath, and numerous Ramapo officers.

Throughout the night, local veterans respectfully retired American flags during the traditional Watch Fire ceremony, offering final salutes.

We remember the fallen and thank all who continue to serve.
