The lies they tell. Sounds like a soap opera

In other words, if the language was completely honest about what the referendum actually did, it would get defeated in a landslide.

The proponents of the “vote yes” campaign insist their gerrymander is about fairness. Yet the 2025–26 redistricting changes tell a different story: Texas +3 R districts; California +5 D districts; Missouri +1 R; Ohio +1 R (redraw mandated by law); North Carolina +1 R; Utah +1 D — a net of six new Republican and six new Democratic districts. They even out. Now Virginia Democrats propose adding four additional Democratic districts while claiming it levels the playing field.

Please stop the mental gymnastics. The map gives an additional advantage to Democrats. Democrats want Democrats in power. Therefore Democrats support the map. If advocates were simply honest and admitted the map helps their preferred party win, would still oppose it, but would at least respect the candor.

Gerrymandering is not new and it is not limited to one side. States already gerrymandered in favor of Democrats include Maryland, Illinois, New Mexico, Oregon, Nevada, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey and California (even before the new map).
