π Did You Know?
Attendance matters more than many parents realize, especially in kindergarten.
πΉ 40% of our kindergarten students were chronically absent this year, meaning they attended less than 90% of the school year.
At the same time:
π Only 25% of kindergarten students met the end-of-year expectation for **letter naming**.
π€ Only 22.6% met the expectation for letter sound recognition.
π Only 30% made the expected growth on the STAR Early Literacy assessment.
π’ Only 39.6% met the expectation for number recognition.
Research consistently shows that missing more than 10% of the school year can have a negative impact on a child's learning and academic success. Kindergarten is where children build the foundational skills needed for reading, writing, and math. Every day of learning counts.
π‘ To learn how to read, children need to be in school.
π‘ To learn math skills, children need to be in school.
π‘ To build routines, friendships, and confidence, children need to be in school.
