I believe trust between law enforcement and the community is earned through actions, accountability, and consistent communication. As Sheriff, I will continue strengthening that trust by promoting transparency in our policies and practices, creating more opportunities for meaningful community engagement, and ensuring technology, including body-worn cameras, is used responsibly to support accountability, protect our deputies, and provide clarity when questions arise.

My years of experience in law enforcement leadership, officer training, and community programs have taught me that transparency cannot simply be a talking point, it must be part of how we operate every day. My goal is simple: build on what works, listen when we can do better, and ensure the Kane County Sheriff’s Office remains accountable and connected to the people we serve.

I’m proud to have served as Kane County’s first woman Undersheriff and to have spent my career helping develop the next generation of public safety leaders.

Strong organizations don’t just fill leadership positions, they prepare people to lead. As Sheriff, I want to establish a formal Mentorship and Leadership Development Program that identifies potential, builds confidence, strengthens supervisory skills, and gives our employees meaningful opportunities to grow throughout their careers.

That means investing in leadership training, pairing experienced leaders with developing employees, creating cross-divisional learning opportunities, and building a succession plan that prepares our organization for the future.

I’ve worked to build a Sheriff’s Office that is strong, professional and accountable. Now, I want to take that commitment even further by creating pathways for our people to learn, lead, and succeed. Welcome Back to School, Kane County! As students, teachers, staff, and families begin another school year, I want to wish everyone a safe, successful, and exciting year ahead.

The start of school is a reminder that keeping our communities safe is a shared responsibility. Please slow down in school zones, watch for buses and children crossing streets, and give yourself a little extra time during your morning commute.

To our students: work hard, be kind, look out for one another, and make this year count.

To our teachers, school staff, parents, school resource officers, and everyone who helps our children succeed: thank you for all you do.

I’m running for Sheriff to bring smart, proven, and responsible public safety solutions to Kane County. That means holding offenders accountable, standing with victims, giving our deputies the training and resources they need, and using evidence-based strategies to reduce repeat crime. For appropriate low-level offenses, effective diversion and rehabilitation can address underlying problems before they become more serious, while allowing law enforcement to focus resources on violent offenders, dangerous criminals, and the crimes that pose the greatest threat to our communities.

As an instructor and Ph.D. candidate, I believe decisions should be guided by research, data, experience, and results. We can keep Kane County safe, support our law enforcement professionals, strengthen services for victims, and be responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars. Safe communities. Accountable leadership. A heartfelt thank you to the Aurora Illinois Police Department for the opportunity to serve as one of the many guest speakers at the Law Enforcement Youth Academy 2026 on July 23, 2026 at the Prisco Center in Aurora. It is always an honor to spend time with such an outstanding group of young people and share my passion for public service and law enforcement as much as they do.

I am also truly grateful for the recognition and award presented to me. It means a great deal, and I am humbled by the honor. This is an event I look forward to each year, and I appreciate the Aurora Illinois Police Department's continued commitment to developing future leaders and strengthening our community.

A sincere thank you to everyone who stopped by and took the time to talk with us at North Aurora Days today and tonight. It was a pleasure meeting so many residents, hearing your thoughts, and sharing conversations about our community.

We are also grateful to the North Aurora Fire Department, North Aurora Police Department, Mayor's Office, local businesses, and all of the organizations that helped make the event such a success.
