This just in from Texas Wing!

All Texas Wing Members,

Some good news! - We are proceeding Back to Phase 2 of the Covid Remobilzation Plan. https://covidactnow.org/us/texas-tx/?s=1609553
We can now meet with groups of less than 50 for training and meetings. Masks will still be worn and temperature checks are required.

Units in areas with tighter restrictions set by the local authorities will need to follow that guidance. As we get more and more people vaccinated, we will soon be able to move to Phase 3 which is a return to overnights. This is required for encampment and conference.
If you need assistance in recovering from the winter storm event please contact your unit commander to push up the request to Wing. Stay Safe, Stay Healthy, Stay Vigilant

Cadets and parents, a reminder: All meetings will be virtual (over Zoom) until further notice. Because of the strict limits on how many people we can have at in-person meetings, we will not be meeting at Anson until Phase I is lifted. Be sure to check Basecamp periodically, any changes will be posted as soon as they are made available.

TX-360 -

We have been reverted back to Phase 1 for COVID restrictions as of last Wednesday. Don't lose heart though because we will be presenting at our Tuesday night meeting online some exciting news about what we can do as a squadron that I believe most of us can participate in. Be sure to attend the Zoom meeting.

Capt. Baldwin
Squadron Commander

Here is the message from Col Schroder from last week.

Texas Wing Commanders,

Effective 6 Jan 2021, Texas Wing will revert to Phase 1 of the COVID remobilization plan. This decision is based on the positivity count for all of Texas exceeding 20% of tests and hospitalization over 85%.

Group Commanders could restrict the activities within their groups further but cannot move their groups to Phase 2 until approved from Wing.

During Phase 1 we can still have small training sessions of less than 10 people, hold Cadet O-flights, flight training, and SAREX training with the restrictions. Our training will need to be adjusted to limit the number of in person contacts with CAP and others. All ‘routine’ meetings should be done virtually. AT ALL times we will have facial coverings, hand washing and temperature checks when face to face. A complete record of all present will be kept, to aid in possible infection tracing. Based on guidance from the CDC we can expect this latest spike to last for 4-6 weeks and units should plan on this as a minimum amount of time before we can look at returning to Phase 2. We will keep you informed as we watch the data going forward.

We need to keep protecting our members to the highest level possible. We have come a long way and now have vaccinations to assist in reducing the threat. Please stay the course.

Stay Safe, Stay Healthy, Stay Vigilant

Congratulations to all of our award and promotion recipients last night.

Texas Wing commander, Col. William Schroder, was in attendance to present C/Lt. Col. Justin Compton with the Eaker award; and C/Cpt. Noah Compton was presented with the Earhart award; the 2nd and 3rd highest awards in the cadet program, respectively. Col. Schroder also presented Maj. Aasgaard with a plaque for being selected as the Texas Wing logistics officer of the year.

As we say in the Navy, Bravo Zulu - or just 'BZ' - for a job well done.

Attention cadets and parents,

Colonel Schroder, commander Texas Wing, will be visiting Sugar Land during this week's meeting for some awards and promotion presentations. It is strongly advised everyone that is able attend this meeting, but for those that cannot make it, the awards presentation portion will be streaming over Zoom.

Whether you attend online or in person, you do not want to miss this special occasion.

Sugar Land Trains, Rain or Shine! Cadets and Seniors brave inclement weather to train for real-life obstacles in the second of two weekends of planned UDF training. Pouring rain and heavy winds reminded trainees that ELT searches are not scheduled, fair weather events. Sorry, no pictures of the rain, but if you have lived in Houston very long, you know what it looks like.

Volunteering to give toys away at Santa's Exchange sponsored by The Exchange Club of Sugar Land. We did a lot of work and didn't have much time for photos. Missing several cadets but thank you all for coming out. The feedback was tremendous and the adults needing help knew to look for the yellow shirts because you would get the task done without being monitored

Over the course of the past month, cadets under the instruction of C/1st Lt Samuel Bolting have been led through emergency service training. Many cadets are striving to finish their training to open up the opportunities it can offer. Cadets have already attended a full weekends worth of training on this subject. Cadets who are undertaking this training will be coming close to completing all their qualifications to be Ground Team 3 certified. Upon getting their GTM 3 certification, cadets will be able to opt in for participating in an emergency, should the call come. Cadets will be participating in a Field Training Exercise this Saturday to complete their training for this first step in the ES side of the Civil Air Patrol.

C/1st Lt Trevor Pawley. Public Affairs Officer.
