City of Sugar Land Retired Employees

City of Sugar Land Retired Employees This page was established for retirees from the City of Sugar Land to re-connect and stay connected

08/07/2020

Good morning to all. We have had this page for several years now and have used it very little. However with the COVID-19 issues this page is a good opportunity for us to keep up with each other. Margie and I have been staying close and being careful and so far our family has personally avoided the COVID-19 issues. We do know and understand that there are so many that are suffering in so many ways, financial, physical and mentally and our prayers and thoughts go out to those. I miss seeing all of my old and dear friends and sharing life events with you. If any of you have any concerns or news to share with the rest of us, please do so. At this point in time there is no telling when our next meeting will be, so until then I’ll look forward to hearing from you in any manner you choose. Be safe and may God bless each and everyone of you.

Since I did not attend the Skeeters May 2012 game, I am anxious to hear from all you retirees and hope you had a great time. Are there any pictures taken on that day that you want to post?

A fellow retiree, Butch McAllister, had a heart attack this morning
and is in ICU at St. Luke's Hospital in the Medical Center. He is going to have triple by-pass surgery in the morning. Ernie Taylor was contacted by Butch's son.

Prayers are needed.

Hope to see you all at tomorrow's retiree meeting. We need volunteers to make phone calls to retirees that do not have access to email or facebook to let them know of meetings.

FYI, Dorothy Painter's older sister who lived in the Katy area, Irene Bourgeois, was the victim of a hit and run driver and passed away February 2nd. They had to wait for Harris County to release her body before the family could bury her on February 9th.

During the same time, Dorothy had to take her husband, Hugh, to the emergency room the night of her sister’s visitation and rosary. On the day of Irene’s funeral, Hugh was rushed into emergency surgery while Drothy was attending the funeral. To make a long story short this was Hugh’s 4th time in the operating room on the same incision. The doctors finally concluded that Hugh has a bacterial infection due to a synthetic device placed in his artery during the 1st surgery, and is being treated accordingly. As of yesterday Hugh is much better, and hopefully is on the road to recovery. Dorothy opted to bring him home to take care of him and she feels it was the right decision because he is so much better. Please keep Dorothy and her family in your prayers.
