Commissioner Andy Meyers Commissioner Andy Meyers serves as the County Commissioner for Fort Bend County Precinct 3.

Elected County Commissioner Pct. 3 in 1996, re-elected in 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, & 2020 (Voted “Best Elected Official in the County” all four times the competition was held.) It has been my distinct honor to serve the residents of Fort Bend County as a County Commissioner since January 1, 1997. I have protected taxpayers by ensuring that their money is spent as prudently and as efficiently as possible. I led the effort to reduce the county tax rate from the region’s highest of 66¢ to one of the region’s lowest of 44¢, saving county taxpayers over $1 billion. I played the key role in making Fort Bend the safest and most family-friendly county in the state by initiating the county’s Sexually Oriented Business Ordinance, which has kept unsavory operations out of the county and helped combat human trafficking.

Many thanks to Gurecky Manufacturing Service, Inc. for an impressive tour of its state-of-the-art Rosenberg facility, where advanced Computer Numerical Control (CNC) equipment is used to manufacture highly precise components from specialized materials.

Fort Bend County Judge Daniel Wong joined us for the tour, giving us an opportunity to see these operations firsthand and hear directly from Gurecky’s team about the skills and workforce needed to support advanced manufacturing in Fort Bend County.

Visits like this help us better understand what local employers need and how we can prepare Fort Bend County residents for good-paying, skilled careers close to home.

We look forward to working with Gurecky Manufacturing and other industry leaders to strengthen workforce training, expand career opportunities for residents and ensure Fort Bend County has the skilled workforce needed to support continued economic growth.

Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority Announces Lane Closures on Grand Parkway

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas — The Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority (FBCTRA) has announced scheduled lane closures on the Grand Parkway frontage road at Peek Road for the week of Sept. 7-14.

Alternating northbound and southbound frontage road lanes will be closed daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

No lane closures are scheduled this week on the Westpark Tollway or the Fort Bend Parkway.

FBCTRA advises drivers to use caution and allow extra travel time when traveling through the affected area. Closure schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

WEDNESDAY 7:45AM UPDATE: Edouard weakens, but flood threat remains for Fort Bend County

Tropical Storm Edouard has weakened to a tropical depression, but Fort Bend County remains under a Flood Watch Wednesday as tropical moisture continues to bring the potential for heavy rain and localized flooding.

Edouard made landfall near Johnson Bayou, Louisiana, Tuesday afternoon with maximum sustained winds of about 60 mph before weakening as it moved inland.

For Fort Bend County, the primary concern Wednesday is not damaging tropical-storm winds but the possibility of locally heavy rainfall.

Fort Bend remains under Flood Watch

The National Weather Service has included Fort Bend County in a Flood Watch through Wednesday evening.

Periods of heavy rain could overwhelm drainage systems and cause water to collect on roads and in low-lying areas. Creeks, streams and other flood-prone locations could also rise if heavier thunderstorms repeatedly move over the same areas.

The greatest threat for exceptionally heavy rainfall Wednesday is expected farther north and east of Fort Bend County, particularly north of Interstate 10 and along and east of Interstate 45.

That puts Fort Bend County outside the area currently expected to receive the worst of Edouard's remaining rainfall.

However, the National Weather Service cautions that individual bands of thunderstorms can still produce heavy rain and localized flash flooding.

What Fort Bend residents should expect

Residents from Needville, to Thompsons, Richmond and Sugar Land should expect a humid and unsettled Wednesday, with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible as moisture associated with Edouard remains across Southeast Texas.

Conditions can vary considerably across Fort Bend County. Some communities may see relatively little rain while a slow-moving thunderstorm could produce a much heavier downpour only a few miles away.

Drivers should be particularly cautious during periods of heavy rain and avoid attempting to drive through flooded roadways.

The threat should gradually decrease as Edouard continues moving inland and away from the Houston region.

As of 2 pm CT on Tuesday Tropical Storm Edouard has begun making landfall in extreme southwestern Louisiana, not far from Port Arthur and Beaumont. Houston will not see much in the way of winds and high seas, but what about rainfall?

The National Weather Service Forecast

Tuesday Night:
A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 78. North wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south in the evening.

Wednesday:
A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 95. Heat index values as high as 105. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday Night:
A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 79. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

I am most grateful for the opportunity to take part in this year’s Indo American Chamber Of Commerce of Greater Houston (IACCGH) Annual Gala. Such an incredible night celebrating entrepreneurship and community leadership with amazing friends as well as business and community leaders from across the Houston Region. I am also grateful to the IACCGH Board and Executive Director Jagdip Ahluwalia for hosting such a phenomenal event.
