Solano Safe Routes to School (SR2S)

Solano Safe Routes to School (SR2S) The Solano Safe Routes to School Program of STA works to increase walking, biking and physical activity among youth in Solano County.

The Solano Transportation Authority (STA) launched the County’s SR2S program in 2008 in response to the growing childhood obesity epidemic, student travel safety concerns, growing air pollution and traffic congestion near schools. Solano Safe Routes to School Social Media Guidelines:

Backpacks are packed and students are on the move!
As you drive through school zones and neighborhoods, slow down, stay focused and keep an eye out for children walking and crossing the street.
Stay alert and help make the trip to and from school a safe one.

There's so much more to a crossing guard than helping students cross the street. 💛🚸

A friendly smile, a wave, or even a fun costume can make all the difference in a student's morning. Thank you, Ms. Hope, for creating a welcoming start to the school day while helping keep students safe every step of the way.

We're grateful for crossing guards like you who make our school communities safer, brighter, and a little more fun. 🚦✨

As more students return to walking, biking, and rolling to school, a little extra awareness can make a big difference. Thank you to the Vacaville Police Department for sharing these helpful back-to-school traffic safety reminders.

Take a minute to watch the video, and let's all do our part to help students get to and from school safely. 💛🚲

Heading back to school on a bike or scooter? Don't forget your helmet! A properly fitted helmet helps protect your head in the event of a fall or crash. Ride predictably, follow traffic rules, and stay alert throughout your trip.

🎉What a fantastic day at the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District Resource Fair!

Our SR2S Coordinators, Crystal and Janelle, had a blast connecting with more than 1,000 students, families, and community members while sharing information about safe walking and biking to school. 🚲

A HUGE thank you to Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District for hosting such a wonderful event and bringing together so many organizations to support students as they get ready for the new school year. We loved seeing so many familiar faces, meeting new families, and helping everyone gear up for a safe and successful school year.

Wishing everyone a safe, successful, and fun school year. We'll see you on the route to school!! 🚸

Before the first day of school, take a few minutes to check your child's car seat or booster seat. Kids grow quickly, and last year's fit may not be the right fit today. Make sure the harness is snug, the chest clip is at armpit level, and the seat is installed correctly.
