Family Matters w/Carey Crance, AFSA International Family Matters Trustee | We say the AFSA is advocating for everyone, right? However, it’s not just something that we say. It’s something that we do! One of the items AFSA has been advocating for is states to recognize professional licenses from one state to another.

Well, starting October 1, Maryland will honor out-of-state licenses. This will be for service members, veterans, AND spouses. Hopefully this will limit the amount of time people are without employment. Way to go, Maryland!

Have you reached out to your elected officials and let them know you’d like to see this in your state too? This is a great opportunity to connect with your local leaders before LAW in October. I know several chapters are already working on LAW. Where does your chapter stand? What do you have planned? Please comment below.

Family Matters w/Carey Crance, AFSA International Family Matters Trustee | We are now a WEEK away from our 2026 International Convention. We have many incredible speakers lined up. We will handle some AFSA business. We will celebrate our annual award winners within our Association. We will network. We will connect. We WILL make many memories. If you haven’t signed up yet…don’t worry, it’s not too late!

As I reflect back on my first AFSA convention, one event of that week that stands out to me is the Presidents Dinner. At that dinner, I was sitting with people within my chapter and division. I got to see a very deserving NCO within my chapter win AFSA NCO of the Year. Made some friends over that dinner. It was amazing!

This is an additional opportunity for our service members and families to connect with people that they may never have had the chance to. Former CMSAFs

Let me say this: if you aren’t already registered for the President's Dinner, make sure you add it. You won’t regret it!
