🚨 Exciting Announcement! 🚨

We’re excited to bring you the first of many announcements as we look ahead to Class 20 in 2027!

With the continued support of the Missouri Division of Fire Safety, Fire Marshal’s Office, we are proud and excited to announce that Class 20 will once again be FREE OF CHARGE to all students!

What does this mean?

Registration fees will cost students absolutely nothing. The Missouri Division of Fire Safety will fund all recruits to attend the week long class through the state’s training funds.

This is an incredible opportunity for recruits to attend Class 20 without the financial burden of registration fees, allowing them to focus on learning, training, and preparing for the challenges ahead.

We would like to extend a special thank you to the Missouri Division of Fire Safety for their continued support and commitment to investing in the next generation of firefighters.

We’re looking forward to Class 20 and everything that 2027 has in store! 🔥

We hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July!

We would like to bring you up to date on some significant developments. This year is a major milestone, as we have reached our 20th class.

The 20th class will take place June 7-12, 2027, and will be in dedication to Firefighter Jimmy Smythe.

Class 19 has officially concluded. This year, 35 recruits accepted the challenge and not only completed all tasks but excelled in them. Students gained knowledge in various areas including Fire 1 and 2.

The curriculum consisted of six days of training:

Day 1 covered respect for the service, brotherhood, history, alarms, communications, hoses, and water supply.

Day 2 focused on Fire Dynamics, water supply practicals, flowing water, hose loads, and Aerial Climb.

Day 3 included CPR, search and rescue classroom training, Hazmat, and ladder operations.

Day 4 comprised Auto Extrication, brush fires, extinguisher usage, forcible entry, salvage and overhaul, and equipment familiarization.

Day 5 involved search and rescue practicals, ladder practicals, VEIS, entanglement prop, forcible entry practicals, spaghetti drill, Building Construction, and Mental Health in the service.

Day 6 culminated in Live Burns.

These recruits demonstrated dedication and perseverance, overcoming obstacles and eliminating the phrase 'I can't' from their vocabulary. They battled adverse weather conditions and, most notably, never gave up. We proudly welcome each recruit into the brotherhood.

The 19th Sullivan Junior Fire Academy is in its final countdown phase, with 41 recruits ready to start a week long training program on June 8th.

The program is carefully designed to provide a thorough introduction to firefighting techniques and practices, adhering to the IFSTA Firefighter 1 & 2 curriculum. The week's training will culminate in live burn exercises.

For these recruits, this academy could mark the beginning of a long term career in the fire service.

Another Alumni Update:

We congratulate Ryan Musil on successfully completing Firefighter 1/2 and EMT certifications. As a multi class recruit, Ryan held a leadership role, including serving as Class Chief. Following his graduation, Ryan has consistently returned to the academy as an instructor each year after aging out. This achievement marks a continuation of the Musil legacy in fire service, as Ryan's father, Captain John Musil, serves as a captain at Saline Fire Protection District and annual instructor at the academy.
