1. Failing to Stop at a Stop Sign – Duty to Obey
Under Indiana Code § 9‑21‑8‑32, any driver approaching an intersection where a stop sign is posted must make a complete stop at that intersection—and then only proceed cautiously, giving the right-of-way to vehicles not required to stop.

2. Disobeying Any Official Traffic Control Device
More broadly, Indiana Code § 9‑21‑8‑41 prohibits disobeying the instructions of any official traffic control device, including stop signs, unless directed otherwise by a police officer. This statute also covers special situations like highway worksites, where drivers must exercise “extraordinary care.”
