Another fun day of science experiments with our elementary campers!

Today, students explored hands-on learning by shaping aluminum foil into boats and testing whether they would float in a small pool. The challenge was to see how many pennies each boat could hold before sinking.

This engaging activity helped campers explore key science concepts like buoyancy, gravity, and the behavior of waterβ€”all while having a great time learning through experimentation.

The campers definitely enjoyed every moment of this hands-on discovery experience!

πŸ”¬πŸ§ͺ🦬 Our campers had an exciting time participating in a fun STEM activity by creating a domino-style chain reaction using craft sticks and cups!

Campers learned how to weave craft sticks together to build tension and then release the first stick to watch the rest pop up in a fascinating domino-like wave. The activity sparked curiosity, encouraged problem-solving, and brought lots of excitement as they observed the science behind stored energy and chain reactions in action.

The campers had so much fun while exploring STEM concepts in a hands-on way. It was a fantastic opportunity to engage them in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through creativity, teamwork, and discovery! πŸ’š

We kicked off today with our adorable preschool and kindergarten campers, who enjoyed tasting a variety of fresh fruits and participating in fun, hands-on science experiment activities. It was wonderful to see their excitement, creativity, and smiles as they explored new experiences and built friendships.

We are looking forward to a week filled with science exploration, learning, discovery, and memorable moments. Stay tuned for more highlights from OSD Summer Camp as our Bison scientists continue their exciting adventures! πŸ’šπŸ¦¬

πŸ“£πŸ’š OSD Cheer Camp 2026 πŸ’šπŸ“£

Since Wednesday, our OSD Cheerleaders have been hard at work at cheer camp preparing for an exciting season ahead! Through team-building activities, the squad collaborated to create a motto for the upcoming fall season while learning more about one another and strengthening their bonds as teammates.

These activities helped our cheerleaders discover how they can support each other and identify ways they can work together to bring school spirit and encouragement to everyone throughout the year.

In addition to team-building, the girls spent time practicing their skills, perfecting chants, and building confidence as a squad. Their dedication, enthusiasm, and teamwork have been inspiring to see.

A special highlight of camp was having J & C Camp work with our cheerleaders. We are excited to share that 7 of our 8 cheerleaders tried out for the All-Star team and all 7 were selected! πŸŒŸπŸ“£ Our senior cheerleaders were also recognized with a special pin, making the experience even more memorable.

A huge thank you to J & C Camp for investing in our athletes, encouraging them, and helping make this camp such a wonderful experience!

We are incredibly proud of these young ladies and their commitment to representing OSD with pride. These girls are proud to be Bison Cheerleaders, and we are proud of them! πŸ¦¬πŸ’šπŸ“£

Last Saturday, Family Engagement and Early Language Supports (FEELS) hosted a fun-filled family outing at the Oklahoma City Zoo with 22 families! πŸ¦’πŸ˜πŸ¦

Our Early Development Specialists and a Deaf Mentor joined the event to support and guide families, sharing signs for the animals they encountered throughout the day. It was wonderful to see families actively engaged and using American Sign Language (ASL) with their young Deaf and hard of hearing children.

These opportunities help strengthen communication, build confidence, and create meaningful connections for families and their children.

A special thank you to the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) Special Education Services team for their partnership and support of family engagement opportunities.

Flashback to our Annual Outdoor Experiences Week! β˜€οΈπŸŽ¨πŸ’§

OSD takes pride in hosting a week of outdoor activities each year that promote language enrichment while giving our elementary students opportunities to learn, collaborate, and have fun.

During the last week of April, students participated in exciting team challenges, including a water relay where teams competed to fill buckets as quickly as possible. They also unleashed their creativity through a unique art activity, using gummy worms as paintbrushes to create colorful masterpieces!

It was a week filled with laughter, teamwork, imagination, and meaningful learning experiences. We love creating memories that help our students grow both academically and socially.
