The deadline to respond to the Census is Sept. 30. Our responses make sure Oklahoma community organizations, tribes, schools, and state and federal government get our fair share of funding for critical services like education, health care and road and bridge repairs. This week, the Mobile Questionnaire Assistance program will be in Oklahoma locations to help people use a 2020 Census tablet or on your phone or other device to submit your info. We can also return our paper questionnaire by mail, respond online at https://www.2020census.gov or phone 844-330-2020. It only takes 5 minutes. All your info is confidential.

Learn about the 2020 Census - how to respond, and why it matters. Shape your future. START HERE.

09/09/2020

Just 59% of Oklahomans have responded to the 2020 census. This places Oklahoma 40th among all states and well below the national response rate.

Our participation could impact the public funding flow to schools, health clinics, elder care, job training, housing and infrastructure. It also determines our Congressional representation.

Go to 2020Census.gov to complete the census and help ensure all Oklahomans, and all Chickasaws, are counted.

I want you to think about two numbers: 47 & 900,000,000,000

47
That’s the number of days remaining to respond to the 2020 Census. Two weeks ago, we thought that number would be 78, but the U.S. Census Bureau’s announcement changed the timeline. The deadline has been changed from October 31 to September 30.

There’s nothing we can do about that except to up our game and go into high gear!

900,000,000,000
Nine-hundred billion (nearly a trillion) dollars a year…for each of the next 10 years…will be distributed using Census data.

The dollars flow to where the population is counted, not where it is. So, it’s really very simple: the more people counted in Murray County, the more money we’ll get. Likewise, the fewer people counted, the less money we’ll get. It’ll go to other counties/states.

Any undercount will negatively affect a community’s political representation and federal funding for the next decade.

Any funding we lose out on means less money over the next 10 years for school lunches, hospitals, law enforcement, CDBG projects, roads and bridges, and much more.

Murray County's self-response rate is still under 50%! That's 3.5% under our 2010 figure. That's NOT GOOD!

This is the amount of money Murray County could potentially lose over the next 10 years with an undercount of:
2% = $10,752,634
3% = $16,128,950
5% = $26,881,584

Please complete your 2020 Census now and tell all your friends to do the same, before it's too late! www.my2020census.gov
