Here are questions from Angela Curtis on Facebook during our Meet and Greet.

Where do you think the problematic issues are within the district? Have you identified areas within the district that need improvement? If so, do you have ideas for solutions and what are they?

A: "I really think it needs to start with parents getting along. To come together to be more unified. When someone like me throws the word around ‘trust’..there has to be some sort of trust in the leadership. Things don’t function unless there is a little bit of trust involved. I think that’s a huge thing. Once there is support of a community..community divided doesn’t stand, right? And once there can be a unified community, I think things can work more smoothly. We can tackle these hard issues, but we need to be unified. Right now, the decisions are always 2 to 3, 2 to 3, 2 to 3, and perhaps it’s going to change over to 3 to 2, 3 to 2, but wouldn’t it be nice if it was 5 to 0? That would be really, really nice if we can be unified as a board.

There are all kinds of issues. Special needs issues, there are the facility issues. It needs a new bus barn. I speak to my friend who is a maintenance person at the bus barn. I am afraid to be in the building. I think I need to have a hard hat when I go in there. It’s dangerous to be in that building."

I am grateful to our community for their support of my write-in campaign for Sultan School board position #5.

Many people have stepped forward to publicly endorse me, which is truly humbling.

❗ HOT TOPIC ALERT - Critical Race Theory ❗

The question that was brought up at the meet and greet on October 23rd was:
Regarding CRT, do you feel that could pull the school system together more as a unit or would it be more divisive?
Here is my response. Part of my answer extends beyond just critical race theory. Who's with me on this?
"We can disagree, but let's not make personal attacks."

"I think you can be firm on your principles...but be nice about it... You can respect your opponent."

Covid-19 always seems to be the topic of the day!

What are Bronn's thoughts regarding the mandates related to children? He believes the best option is to allow the parents to decide what is best for their child.

Before the days of Covid, Katherine and Bronn presented annual Christmas concerts in large venues around the Puget Sound area.
Band parents baked and sold what we affectionately called "Bronnies" at these events. These Bronnies brought in at least $10,000 over the years. This helped purchase choir robes and other much needed items for the music department.
