Sultan Simplified: Go Behind the Scenes with the Citizens Academy
Ever wondered what happens behind the scenes to keep Sultan running? The Sultan Citizens Academy offers an inside look at how local government and community partners work together—from public safety and utilities to parks, roads, planning, and the City budget.
Following the success of the inaugural class, applications are now open for the second cohort! This free, interactive eight-week program is a partnership between the City of Sultan, Sultan Police Department, Fire District 5, and the Sultan School District. Participants will meet local leaders, tour facilities, ask questions, and learn how decisions and services impact our community.
The 2026 Citizens Academy begins Wednesday, September 16, with classes held Wednesday evenings from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at City facilities and partner locations throughout the community.
Did You Know?
Graduates of the first Citizens Academy described the experience as "truly eye-opening and dispelled several misunderstandings I had"; "The Citizens Academy left me better informed, more connected, and committed to staying involved"; and "It was definitely worth our time." Now it's your turn!
Applications are now open! Did we mention that the program is free and offered to residents in the Snohomish County Fire District 5 service area, but space is limited. Don't miss your chance to go behind the scenes and become more informed and connected to your community.
