It's Week 6 of Summer Reading, and we're feeling green. Here is the list of activities for the week. Complete any four activities to claim your sticker and complete your Summer Reading card. Bring your completed Summer Reading card to the library to receive a Summer Reading button. Adults, enter to win a Summer at the Library tote bag! Tonight (Friday, July 24), the Friends of the Sumas Library host a community movie night at Sycamore Park in Sumas. The Friends will be showing Monsters, Inc., and selling concessions (nachos, popcorn, candy and drinks). The event starts at 7:00 p.m., with the movie beginning at dusk (around 9:00 p.m.). Bring your blanket or chairs and join us outside for a summer movie!

Stop by the lobby of the Sumas Library to pick up a free copy of the Lynden Tribune. A limited number of copies is provided weekly by the Lynden Tribune for the community so get yours while supplies last. Can't make it to the library during open hours on M/W/Sa? Yay! The Sumas Library is open again following December's devastating flood. We are still stocking shelves and getting things settled, but we didn't want to wait another minute to open the doors. We'll be fully back to normal in time for our Summer Reading Kickoff Party on Monday, June 22.

We are grateful to City of Sumas staff and the workers who got us back on our feet. Thanks to proactive library staff and changes to the library following the 2021 flood, there was minimal loss of library materials and equipment. During renovations, we continued to offer library services online, at nearby WCLS locations and via a temporary holds pick-up location. Thanks to everyone for your support during the closure. It feels so good to welcome you back to the library.

Sumas Library hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday and Wednesday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. The Library Express is open daily from 6 a.m.-11 p.m.

Yay! We are getting closer to fully reopening the library for the Summer Reading Kickoff on Monday, June 22. One of the tasks on the lists...switching the requested items pick-up back to the lobby! Starting today, if you have items to pick-up, please plan to grab them from the Library Express in the lobby of the Sumas Library building (rather than from the lock box in the parking lot). You will need your library card to access the library during hours the library is not open.
