Yay! The Sumas Library is open again following December's devastating flood. We are still stocking shelves and getting things settled, but we didn't want to wait another minute to open the doors. We'll be fully back to normal in time for our Summer Reading Kickoff Party on Monday, June 22.

We are grateful to City of Sumas staff and the workers who got us back on our feet. Thanks to proactive library staff and changes to the library following the 2021 flood, there was minimal loss of library materials and equipment. During renovations, we continued to offer library services online, at nearby WCLS locations and via a temporary holds pick-up location. Thanks to everyone for your support during the closure. It feels so good to welcome you back to the library.

Sumas Library hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday and Wednesday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. The Library Express is open daily from 6 a.m.-11 p.m.

Yay! We are getting closer to fully reopening the library for the Summer Reading Kickoff on Monday, June 22. One of the tasks on the lists...switching the requested items pick-up back to the lobby! Starting today, if you have items to pick-up, please plan to grab them from the Library Express in the lobby of the Sumas Library building (rather than from the lock box in the parking lot). You will need your library card to access the library during hours the library is not open.

Woo hoo! Shelving is going back into the Sumas Library this week! In order to reopen, the building needs to receive an Occupancy Permit approval, and staff have not been given a date when this will happen. WLCS staff are doing what they can to have the library ready to go as soon as this permit is approved!

It's National Library Week! We are celebrating by sharing library joy. Participate in activities at any WCLS location and earn the new Library Joy game card for The Library Game. Just look for the display or ask a staff member during your visit.

Only 1 time slot left for this program (5:30pm - 6:00pm) so call the Everson Library at 360-966-5100 to sign-up! Reservations not available online.

Cuddle up with a good book and read to a canine friend and a volunteer from the Whatcom Humane Society for 30 minutes on Thursday, April 16th & Thursday, April 23rd. For grades K - 5; participants should be able to read with minimal help. This program was originally scheduled to be held at the Sumas Library, but due to flood damage, this has been moved to the Everson Library.

All dogs have completed basic obedience and/or participated in WHS education programs.
