💧 Fall Hydrant Flushing | August 31 – October 16

The City of Summersville will begin its annual Fall Hydrant Flushing on Monday, August 31, with flushing scheduled to continue through October 16.

City crews will complete hydrant flushing throughout the water system while also continuing their regular daily duties and responding to service calls and emergencies. Because of this, the schedule may vary, and crews may finish earlier than October 16 depending on daily workloads and emergency calls.

During flushing, residents may temporarily notice discolored or cloudy water or changes in water pressure. If you experience discoloration, allow your water to run for a few minutes until it clears.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as our crews complete this important routine maintenance.

PSA:

Route 39 west toward Drennen near the Tire Disposal is shut down. A tree has fell on some power lines. And they are laying in the road. We are currently waiting on the power company. If at all possible, please avoid the area. We will advised when the road is back open.

UPDATE:
Route 39 west is open to all traffic. Scene has been turned over to the power company.

Today is a sad day for the fire department. Our beloved Engine 23 has left the station for the last time. It has been sold to make room for our new truck to be delivered sometime in November. Engine 23 has served the Summersville and surrounding areas for 30 years. The department bought the truck new in 1994 from then Finley Fire Equipment. We would like to wish District 2 Fire Department from Ohio the best of luck with the truck. We hope she treats you guys as good as she has treated us.

Don’t forget to get those chances on all our great raffle prizes. Link in the comments section to enter.
